How far in advance would it be appropriate for us to ask for a tasting at our venue? We are creating a "new" menu based on items we want and items the venue is able to make, but these items are not the ones usually offered (my parents want to make the menu unique/special). The coordinator at the venue said that we could come up with some ideas, they would come up with some, we would pick a few to try from each course, and then go in for a tasting. The problem I'm foreseeing is that we cannot say with certainty that we have a final guest list before we see what the total cost per person will be, and I want to send out STD's next month, so we need to know the cost beforehand. Thoughts? Is there such a thing as a too-early tasting? Did your venue tell you when yours would be or were you able to decide?
