Suites at Different hotels

Due to our small acceptance rate we are looking at different options for our reception (since the budget can stretch further). FI kind of thinks the insuite reception idea is cool but refuses to go with Mandalay Bay due to the recent hiccups! In frustration I said well you look into it and he has come up with two places that he likes. So I am looking for any information/opinions/reviews of the following:

Penthouse suites at New York New York
Loft Penthouse at the Tropicana

Does anyone know if you can use them for this sort of thing and if you can bring in catering? We have emailed them but after 3 days still have no answers.

If you want to pimp a suite as well please go ahead- we will have less than 20 people (16 confirmed and booked).

Also we are below the masterpiece minimums so any ideas for other caterers? Must have a few vegie options as well since we are vegan/vegetarian.

I have also emailed Maggianos and they can fit us in on the patio- does anyone know anything about this room- is the view good? Also to meet the minimum we would probably need to get the cake through them so ball parks on a cake from them too would be good (we only need a simple vegasey cake).

Thank you my ladies and gent for all your help (because i know there will be heaps) and I apologise for being a pain!

Like always, I suggest the L Suite, but not sure if that's part of the MB ban for you guys even though it's TheHotel.....not sure if they would have any suites open anyways...

Jason's Deli for catering is my only thought, or I bet some of the restuarants would cater, Grand Lux maybe, they have really good food and good prices!

Let me know if you have any questions on the L, otherwise, good luck!

Do you care if it's off strip?  Palms has some pretty kick ass suites and the crowd there is generally younger so probably much less likely of complaints.

Maggiano's is catering our in-suite dinner.  They have been a breeze to work with and very helpful with suggestions on menu.  They called me within 5 minutes of receiving my confirmation fax just to let me know it arrived.

How about the Mirage? The newly remodeled suites are super nice and the two bedroom tower or penthose would handle up to 20, IMO. Check out the website.

Also, for our wedding a few people stayed at the Tropicana. I heard nothing but raves. It is newly remodeled as well and really nice.

@VG- will look at those now...I am not sure if FI looked at them because they were off strip
@Sara- the L suite might work (if I don't tell him they are a sister property he probably will never know lol). How much does that run at?
@K9- didn't think of Maggianos for catering
@JB- the renovations was one of the things FI liked about the suite. It looks pretty flash! Just can't get a damn answer from them though and don't really want to call b/c it will cost a fortune and I will have to stay up really late :(

Hilton is a little older and off-strip but they have lots of suites that would work and are much less than Mandalay. The manager (Jim) that I was talking with was super helpful and the staff all seemed with it (much different than Mandalay).
They have some super fun suites if you look on their site. Outside catering is not "allowed" (as most hotels say but do not always enforce) but friends of ours had their wedding there last year and the bell desk helped the outside caterers deliver...so however you want to take that... Many of the suites have balconies too.
You may also want to call Trump. We were told they would allow outside catering and they had lots of penthouses available that were very resonable.

lol on the not telling, I'd do the same, he may figure it out though;) I think the original price for our dates was $619 for a Thurs. and $1,029 for Fri., but we have the Spring Promotion coupon code applied which lowers it by 20% I believe. It can totally vary I'm sure, you just have to call. They may be sold out anyways though. When I called the other day Fri. was sold out completely but Thurs. wasn't as of yet (for our dates in Oct.)

The private balcony at Maggianos is a bit small and it's stip view is a tad bit limited as it is to the side of the building and it is not very high. However, their food is wonderful and it might be fun to just sit outside and enjoy the lights and sounds!

Yeah we have ditched Maggianos. We went searching for pictures of the patio and didn't like the view or where it was located and the barolo room looks a little too squishy for 17 people.

Thanks everyone we are still looking (we both love the tropicana penthouse after finding more pictures) but now we aren't that impressed with the catering options. We just don't think there will be enough variety for everyone.

@direy- I know isn't it amazing and I got an email off a chick from Trip advisor of someone at the hotel who can hook people up with great rates. At the moment I can get it online sor just over $1K for 2 nights!

@Queen- Thanks for the tip, this is another good thing about an insuite we can get a cake from whereever we want!
