Tempations

I was very thin before my FI and I were together. I am not overweight now but I am not comfortable with myself either....very far from it. The biggest problem is the junk he keeps in the house. He is a junk food junkie and can eat it all day every day without gaining an ounce! I'm usually a pretty good eater but when that stuff is in the house its just too convenient. We have discussed him keeping that stuff somewhere I can't see it which worked for about a week. He can't "give it up" completely because he would go insane. Does anyone have any tips on controlling cravings, especially if you know its right there in the kitchen?? ;)

Re: Tempations

  • For me, it's water.  Any time I get a craving for something sweet, I fill up a glass of water and the craving usually goes away.  I'm not going to lie, I do eat junk food every once in awhile and you're allowed to do that!  Trying to cut it off completely isn't realistic.  The key is to keep it in moderation.  It takes time, but just keep at it and eventually you may not even want it anymore.  Good luck!

  • Your FI should be willing to compromise with you on this to a certain extent because it involves your health. Maybe he could also compromise the types of stuff he keeps in the house. Are you a sweet or salty junk food person? If you devour sweets when they're around maybe you can ask him to keep that to a minimum or keep it at work or in his car. If you can't stay away from the salty the same thing.

You could also work on switching up to better nutrition items. Maybe chips can be replaced by a lower sodium higher fiber snack (wheat thins maybe?). Instead of ice cream maybe you could try yogurts frozen in the freezer etc.

  • My FI does the exact same thing. This week I got the same version of his snacks but in a healthy version. Like his un healthy chips I got special k chip crakers, his ice cream I got skinny cow ice cream. Things like these just opt for the healthy brand. A lot of times he eats his junk food late at night, so  I choose to go to sleep intead of ruine my diet for the day. Good luck to the both of us...
