GymChick asked:
I will ask the original florist if she can make any adjustments and shop around more as well. Is it ever appropriate to use one florist for the church flowers and stuff you need pre-ceremony like bouquets and then another for the centerpieces at the venue?
I'm wondering this too. I found a florst in Miltown that I love, but they dont decorate Chuppah's with fabric-only flowers. Their price is right and plan to work with my vision. My venue comes with an iron structure for a chuppah -but I definitely feel like it needs to be decorated.
I then ask a florist in South Jersey for a quote on bouqs, bouts/corsages, CPs, and chuppah.. and they were a bit too expensive for the whole package.
I would like the South Jersey florist to only come in for the chuppah and my Miltown florist to do the rest? How tacky is that?
Maybe i'll go to my FI's old italian tailor to see if they can sew me up something
Re: New Thread: is this poor Florist etiquette
But I say business is business! As a consumer, I say you have to do what meets your needs & your budget!
I get my groceries at Shop Rite, but my cosmetics at WalMart...
Dumb example I guess, but also I am using a separate hair & makeup person, even though my hair person does makeup.... it just worked out better for me that way.
I honestly never even thought about etiqutte until I read this thread.
Being married is a real thriller!
demarcosjd - when you first met w/ each florist were you planning on doing this or did you decide later on? Did you do this due to location/cost? My concern is I met w/ the first florist who is close to my church and I know, but I think I could get a lower rate on centerpieces w/ another florist closer to the venue now that I got a quote. I just dont want to upset anyone. Thanks!
I haven't started looking for florists yet but know that I will be using two different ones. My venue (WCC) requires that we use one of their house florists for the centerpieces and venue decorations, so I have no choice on that one. But for my church decorations, bouquets, and boutonnieres I plan on using a more local florist in Staten Island (since thats where I live) that would probably be cheaper and more convenient for me.
