Poughkeepsie Hotel Recommendations

Happy Monday!

I am getting married at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie next year. We have our block with the Poughkeepsie Grand, which I know fills quickly. I want to be proactive and have a second hotel in case they sell out. Has anyone used any other hotels up in that area that they were happy with? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The Hampton Inn and the Courtyard by Marriot are two that come to mind.

    Good luck!

If you can I'd send save the dates with hotel info. and urge your guests to book early! That way maybe you'l be able to get a second block of rooms at the Grand.

Thank you for the info. I actually have and my family and friends have really gotten moving on it, but we have so many invites that I know that I will probably need the back-up in case...there are always a few stragglers...haha!

I'm in the same boat for next Oct.  Check the rates at the Pok Grand - I'm about to post a separate post about this but the rate on their website right now is much lower than the room block rate they gave me.

We had the courtyard inn as our backup as well, and didn't wind up needing it. Just a tip, though if you're concerned about the last-minute stragglers....you get 5 comp'd rooms from the Grand....instead of assigning them right now to your friends & fam - have those people book their own rooms separately. Then you can hang onto the 5 rooms until the end(thus holding 5 extra rooms open for stragglers) and you can re-assign the free ones like a week before your wedding, so they still get them for free.

We blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn Express and Courtyard by Marriott in addition to the Grand. The only people who stayed at either were people who had points to use and got their rooms for free. We didn't hear any complaints.

We got married at the Grandview back in 2007 and we had over 30 rooms in our block. We sent the Save The Dates 8 months in advance and told guests about the complimentary shuttle. They booked quite quickly when we mentioned that. We also had the Holiday Inn Express as a backup but no one used it.

    Hi

Congratulations! I'm also getting married at POK Grand in Sept. and booked blocks at the Hampton Inn, Days Inn and Clarion - all were very helpful. Especially after I learned I unknowingly picked friends and family weekend at Vassar and Marist - which resulted in availablity and cost issues for blocks at other area hotels.

    Good Luck and Happy Planning!

Congrats! I was going to get married at the Poughkeepsie Grand, but decided on Dutchess Manor instead. I kind of wish I did the Pok grand because of the 5 comp. rooms, and the continental breakfast! What was I thinking? Anyway, I would use the Courtyard Marriot, I think their rates are pretty reasonable. Check them out. Also, for "probablykate" - you should call them and tell them that they quoted you a higher rate then the website, I would imagine they should match it for you!!!
