Awesome Hotels?

We’re getting married on Maui and I would love to stay in a tropical hotel for at least a couple of  nights, including our wedding night.  Anyone know of beautiful tropical exotic hotels? We saw one with individual huts/villas but from what I read the tsunami took it out.

If you have suggestions for hotels for any part of our stay could you post a comment and maybe a pic of your room that would be cool and probably a good resource for the rest of us knotties who haven’t yet book our hotel stays.

We're going to be in Hawaii for 14 days and plan to marry on Maui. We’ll be visiting Oahu for a few days for sure and will possibly a day trip to Big Island or Kauai. Is this too many islands? Anyone else island hop?

  • Tropical and exotic? Interesting. The hotels we stayed in were beautiful but I don't know about exotic. My favorite by far was hotel hana it was very Hawaiian without being cheesy and touristy. It was gorgeous and the perfect place. I wish we had spent more time there.
  • What exactly do you mean by a tropical hotel? Do you want one in a forested area? Beachfront? I was going to suggest the Kona Village, but since that's the one closed by the tsunami... Honestly, I think that particular resort was the only one of its kind on the islands (especially with its lack of tvs, phones, etc) - but hopefully someone else might know more than I do! It's been a while since I looked into resorts on Maui and the BI.

There's this place on Maui: http://www.travaasa.com/hana/

FWIW, it's not tropical huts, but we went to the Hyatt on Kauai this past summer, and it was AMAZING. It's not secluded, but the resort is spectacular and the spa is outstanding.

  • The one that Kaesha linked to is the one I was talking about.
  • I was going to suggest the sameone in Hana that Brea and Kasha suggested. We are staying there a couple days ourselves. I'd also suggest the Inn at Mama's Fish House. The area is really pretty and they do lots of little touches. I really felt like I was in old Hawaii when I was on their grounds.

We ate here while doing to Road to Hana.  Gorgeous place but I'll bet it's super expensive.   It cost us $21 for a cheeseburger...

  • Kona Village is the hotel I saw that I loved! It is what I meant when I said exotic and tropical. So far I haven't found anything else like it.

So the next best thing would be a hotel that has rooms that are super plush, have tropical/island unique decor, and an awesome beach front.

We've stayed in a ton of hotels and I don't want to just be in another Hyatt suite, but if the room looks Hawaiian I'm good with a major chain for sure!. I want something grand since this is likely a once in a life time vacation for us.

Mexico has incredible resorts with exotic looking rooms. They look like a designer came in a whipped up a batch of amazingness! LOL Not your standard duvet or floral spread, ya konw?

Another cool thing woudl be cabanas on the beach. Anyone seen those?
