Tips on bridal registery

So my fiance has finally decided to register for the wedding, wohoo!!! We are going tommorrow to Bed Bath + Beyond and I wanted to know what I can expect when we go. I heard it takes hours which might suck since my fiance has a broken ankle. Does anyone have any tips for what to register for? We already have a house with lots of things so I'm not really sure. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Look online tonight and try to brainstorm about what you want.  Make a generic list of things you want, and just pick the brand when you get there and can see it in person.  Our first trip was about 1 hour.  We got all the big things picked out (cookware, knives, kitchen appliances, etc), then I went back 2-3 more times alone to add extra things.  Once the registry is set up, you can also add items online from home if you dont want to go back to the store.

    Good luck, and happy shopping!

BB&B really does take forrreevverrr (my experience anyway). The lady we had was very nice but she really made the whole process completely un-enjoyable because she was such a saleslady.  I made a list of things and looked online which made it easier because I knew mostly what I needed and wanted then all I had to do was add it to the list.  Have fun and Good Luck!

Take a break for lunch! We started at 10 when the store opened, stopped at 11:30 to go get food at Panera, and then finished up after lunch. It made the whole process so much more enjoyable. Oh- and look on their website and make sure the location you're going to has a china section. It made it much better and even if you aren't registering for china those stores tend to be larger.

We asked the sales lady NOT to follow us around the store (politely). This helped a lot. But def have a list or idea of what you want to register for.

Yeah, they will follow you, which is weird.  FI and I should have asked her not to.  Also, we just did the basics we knew we wanted, pots and pans, appliances, etc.  Then I went home and added the stuff where I had to pick out the designs (dishes, silverware, decor) so that I could take my time.

Be very careful what you register for online.  There were many items that I added to the registry online and found out later that they weren't available in the store!  So when my shower guests went to purchase gifts, there was very little in-store to buy.  Some bought and had the gift sent to me, others just got gift cards.  But I didn't know that everything isn't available at the stores.

They give you a list when you get there, but we are in the same situation where we already had alot. I went through their list and crossed out what we didnt need. Our first trip was 1.5 hrs, then we went back another day to finish. We registered for necessities and some fun stuff too. Everyone recommended a large list to give your guests options. We ended up with 11 pages and the sales lady said that was about 1/2 the average list.

We were there for 4 hours! Mostly it went pretty well but towards the end we got cranky - because we didn't break for lunch because we didn't realize how long we were there!  The girls at the store got us started and then just checked in on us from time to time, asked if we wanted water, etc.

Originally we did an Amazon registry only, but so much of the family is older and not really internet savvy, we did somewhere that they could actually physically see.  We also have a house full of stuff, but because we knew we're getting 2 big showers, we registered for a lot of stuff that was going to be an upgrade from what we have, or just things that we would really like to have. So I guess my tip would be just kinda take a loose inventory of stuff that it would be nice to upgrade, stuff that you need, and then you'll see stuff in the store that you want.

Thanks ladies, great tips!! Our registry went really well and pretty quick. The sales people were very nice + they did not follow us around at all. She just gave us some tips + showed us how to use the scanner. It took about 2hrs and we got 11 pages worth of stuff and we still want to add more. My crazy splurges included about 10 candles and 5 boxes of K-cups.lol I think we did good and will head over to Target soon to register for a few other things!!

Oh + the scan gun was WAY addictive!!!!
