Pre-Wedding Party for OOT guests

So,

I am getting married in Ohio on July 3rd and  A LOT of guests will be coming from out of town. Our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner will be on a Friday and will be mainly family and wedding party. However, since we get married on a Sunday we have been considering having something for out guests on Saturday.

The thing is, we don't want to spend a whole lot of money so I'm trying to think of ideas that would be cost friendly and also fun and welcoming to our guests.

Dave and Busters, or a private dining room in a restaurant and everyone foot their own bill...something like that. is that tacky?

if so, any suggestions???

You can't both host an event and NOT host an event. You can say something like "We'll be at Dave and Buster's on Saturday night from 8 PM on" but you can't send out invitations or anything, because you can't invite people to pay for their own meal. If you wanted to host something, maybe you could do a BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, that is pretty cheap and is pretty common for Fourth of July weekend.

Also, I know that this isn't what you're asking, but are you sure your bridal party is OK coming to the rehearsal two days ahead of time? I mean they may have some other plans during a holiday weekend, not to mention hotel rooms and such may very well be more expensive/hard to get near holidays.

my bridal party is well aware of the rehearsal time and they were all planning to be there that early anyway. since i am getting married on a sunday we need to have our rehearsal on a friday because is completely full with weddings at our venue.

and i got a pretty great rate for hotels.

i think we are opting to let people just do their own thing. give them a small map and let them roam around the area the hotel is situated in. and we will just see them on the wedding day.
