Curious about Sirata Beach Resort, St. Pete's

Hi, all,

My fiance and I are from Chicago but are very taken by the West Coast of Florida. On paper, the Sirata Beach Resort seems like an ideal set up for our 100-person wedding and ceremony on the beach.

Does anyone have experience with this place, good or bad? I'd love your thoughts and want to say CONGRATS to you all and GOOD LUCK with your planning.

Btw, thank you so much for your help.

I didn't like the way the hotel looked.  The main ballroom was the nicest but expensive!  I think it's overrated.

I totally agree that it is overrated.  I didn't look into it for reception purposes (ours was at Tampa Bay Watch) but I stayed there the weekend of my wedding in their nicest room (according to them).  I was pretty unimpressed with the room and hotel for what we were paying.  Oh and the AC kept breaking, so the night before my wedding I had to sleep in a different room down the hall with all my bridesmaids.  It happened a again a couple nights later.  They kept sending the same rude security guard to fix it in the middle of the night cause no one was on call to repair it.  It turned out to just be a blown fuse or something stupid.  The second time it happened I had to scream at them until they called the maintance guy who expained how to fix it.  They did wind up comping us for two of the five nights we stayed there, but I still wish I just spent the extra money and stayed at the Don.  We also had a discount set up at the Sandpiper for our guests which was a total disaster.  No one knew what they were doing there everytime someone called to book a room.  Everyone wound up staying at the HOJO and had a fabulous time there!

Gosh, ladies. This doesn't sound good. Thanks for your help!! What about the Grand Plaza Florida? Any thoughts on that one?

I have to agree with the Sirata. I kind of just browsed by it when looking for a spot for my wedding. Completely unimpressed. There was honestly nothing there that was eye catching, and there was a lot of hidden fees.

However, I am booked at the Grand Plaza. We found the pricing to be really reasonable. The staff there is very helpful and friendly. They provided me with a DOC Diana and she's wonderful! We just walked in without an appointment to look at the place one day and Diana had another appointment. So the hotel paid for us to go upstairs and eat lunch and have a cocktail while we waiting for her appointment to be over. We're booked in the presidential ballroom upstairs which has an AMAZING view with ceiling to floor windows, but I think it can only accomodate 90 people. Anyways, if you have an specific questions about the Grand Plaza, I'd be more than happy to help you out! Laughing

I am having my wedding and reception at the Sirata in March. So far, they have been great. Lisa was my wedding coordinator, but she left. Now I have Kelly who seems just as nice. We chose the Sirata for the Royal Palm Ballroom on the 8th floor with huge windows overlooking the beach and intercostal waterway. We also looked at the Tradewinds, but to have a indoor reception, it would be in a conference room with no windows. We looked at the Grand Plaza as well, but the room with the awesome views could only hold 70 people and we wanted a place to hold 80-100. GL! HTH!

I got married at The Tradewinds which is right near the Sirata.  Renee was awesome to work with.

Here's my video trailer that shows a lot of the hotel.

I'm also getting married at the Grand Plaza.  Actually, it was between The Tradewinds and the Grand Plaza (they're right next door).

I chose the GP because of what you get for the money, PLUS thier rooms are fabulous!!! The upstairs ballroom has an AMAZING view but I REALLY liked the idea of a patio for cocktail hour plus it's a little bigger downstairs.   We got pretty much the top package for around 8000.00 and that includes tax/gratuity/open bar etc.  You could even get it for much less $$$ too.  They're VERY nice there and accomidating.

GL and if you have any questions feel free to PM me :)
