July 2012 Weddings

What task did you think you could accomplish before the wedding but have since given up on?

WR or NWR and what is the worst thing that has gone wrong so far?

Mine
Task
I'm trying to get my insurance license so I can be my clients one stop shop. The finance company that's offering the program gave us 1 1/2 months to complete the course and take the exam to be able to get it for free. I don't know what I was thinking but I haven't even cracked the book! HA!

Wrong thing
My family cut our list dramatically to try and keep costs down. FI's family was able to invite everyone they wanted because they don't have as big of a family as we do. I'm not upset about that but I'm kind of sad/dissapointed at the amount of declines. ALL of Fi's dads side has declined the invitation except for 2 people and about half of his moms side has declined. I'm dissapointed because we probably should've invited the people that we wanted to (hindsight is 20/20) and I feel sad for FI because he comes from a family where divorce runs rampant and he's always felt a little like he doesn't have a "whole" family.

Now you go!

  • Well, I have an 11 year old and wanted to do a special dance with her for the wedding. I thought oh a flash mob to Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana's Hoedown Throwdown would be adorable and fun.

I set up a date for tomorrow and of all the people I asked to partake that agreed, only 2 are coming to jointly learn the dance out of the 11 invited. I've been hunting for the perfect weekend and devised this a month out as most people had no plans then.

I'm really thinking to just cancel it as it's becoming way more of a hassle.
  • Holding onto my Sanity.....

Seriously, my family is driving me fracking insane....My grandmother is being a butt...she's not payin for anything but wants to run the whole show...I thought this was my wedding....

<div>Just being honest- I would be mortified (as would about 90% of the people I know) if I would have to partake in this.  People aren't going to say no and hurt your feelings/feel like they're ruining your day.  You should really cancel that. </div>

I agree. I wanted to do a flash mob at our wedding with our friends but the E board set me straight on that one. There's probably a few things you didn't think about. The people that you asked might feel almost required to do it (hence the reason they're not showing up for practice). Some people may feel mortified as brandi mentioned. Others that you didn't ask to be part of the group might feel left out and so on... It sounds fun in theory but after playing it out in your head it really starts to not work that well. Believe me the more I thought about it the worse it sounded. Maybe you could have a special dance between you and her and not involve other people.

  • I did pull the plug on it. Everyone wanted to do it. I had asked would you be interested in doing it to the ones that I know wouldn't be embarrassed. But suddenly 4th of July plans sprung up this weekend and next and I don't have any other available time myself. I only had about 10 close friends and family that were going to do this with us.

Put it's done. Now to alter all the paperwork for the wedding and dj.

We really wanted to take dance lessons and do a choreographed dance, just the two of us. But things got crazy and we had to cancel our lessons. Oh well!
