Honeymoon Help-Sandals Grance Saint Lucia or La Toc?

I'm wondering if anyone has been to Sandals La Toc Golf Resort and Spa in Saint Lucia. My friends honeymooned at Sandals GRANDE Saint Lucia and highly recommended it. However, the hotel rooms at the GRANDE seemed small (for a good amount of money) and at La Toc the rooms looked much bigger (for the same price as the small Grande rooms) with better ammenities. My only concern is that I have seen quite a few reviews on Trip Advisor and Tracelocity that were very negative towards La Toc. We are going in August, I am not sure if the month makes any difference. Everyone I speak with loves Saint Lucia and Sandals. I know we won't spend a lot of time in the room but my fiance and I both enjoy our down time and are pretty private people. We really want a nice room if we are going to spend the amount we have been quoted for the trip. Thanks in advance for any information you have on both Sandals Grande and La Toc Saint Lucia! :)

Re: Honeymoon Help-Sandals Grance Saint Lucia or La Toc?

  • We stayed at La Toc and LOVED it!
We were in between the Grande and La Toc as well, but our travel agent recommended La Toc to us for what we were looking for--- we wanted a lot of options (restaurants, pools, etc) but we didn't want to feel as though we were at a huge resort.  The resort is HUGE but it is so spread out with so many different areas that you really aren't overwhelmed and you don't realize just how many people are there.
We visited the Grande for the beach one day (it is a nicer beach) and then for dinner.  It is really nice as well, but seemed more compact.  We felt as though there weren't as many private areas there.
If you have certain concerns, I'd chat with a travel agent- especially a Sandals certified one.  They know those resorts inside and out, can definitely help you pick between the two.
Both are great resorts, it really comes down to what you want.  Good luck! (Can recommend our TA if you are interested.)
  • We stayed at the Grande a month ago for our second time. We never went to halcyon or la Toc but me several couples who had split their trip in two. Of the ones we spoke to they much preferred the Grande. The biggest complaint we heard was lack of a good beach at the other two. I have a review, pics and video of the Grande in the link above my siggy pic. I do have a video of our room which was small yes, but it was more than adequate.
  • We are going to split our time for our honeymoon in october....3 nights at the Halcyon and 6 nights at the Grand. We wanted a little bit of both, diverse experiences. Halycon is more private, quiet and also cheaper by the way....La Toc I've heard is beautiful but a very spread out resort. The Grand however from what I've heard is the best of the 3- lots to do, best beach, more fun spirited. You might want to look into splitting your time like we are going to do. Best part is you can go to all 3 resorts to use their amenities. Good luck!

  • I just booked my honeymoon at La Toc for September! Now, I have never been to either resort so I was only going on recommendations from others. My best friend stayed at The Grande on her honeymoon and she had nothing bad to say. I am sure they are all nice, I think it depends on what you are going for. She said The Grande had more people in a smaller area, there was less privacy but they are very social people and wanted to meet other couples. My travel agent highly recommended La Toc for us. I wanted total privacy and not to be on top of other honeymooners everywhere I went. While the beach is closer at The Grande, it is only a short walk from La Toc. If the beach is something you want to do everyday, then I would stay at The Grand. We also felt like we were getting more for our money at La Toc. We have all the amenities except for the pool and for the exact same thing at The Grand was at least $1000 more. La Toc has the spa and the views from the Sunset Bluffs which you cant get at The Grand. I have been asking around to people I know as well as researching it and I have never heard anything bad about any of the resorts. Don't forget you can visit all three, so I am sure which ever one you choose will be great!
  • We just booked our honeymoon at The Grande for October.  Our travel agent highly recommended all three Sandals resorts but warned us the beach at La Toc was not as easily accessible as the one at The Grande.  Being that we love the water and plan to spend a majority of our time on the beach or doing activities he highly recommended The Grande or Halycon.  I also have friends who stayed at the Halycon and absolutely loved it, they didn't even leave to check out other resorts.  Ultimately it's about what fits you and your fiance's style and where you think you'll be most comfortable.
  • Collywholly- I sent you a PM!
    Enjoy! :)
