Mom Dressess....

This may be a silly question, but do MOB or MOG dresses need to be ordered ahead of time like wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses? FMIL will be in town in May for FI's and my graduation and we were all going to go out to look at dresses (and to order the bridesmaids dresses for the December wedding). If they got dresses from David's, would they take them home right off the rack? I guess I'm asking too because I want to go out with FI's grandmother to look for her dress and I don't know when the ask her to go. Sorry if this doesn't make sense and thanks in advance for the help!

I don't know how David's Bridal works but I know if you were to go to a bridal boutique like Irma's you will have to order the MOB/MOG dresses and it takes aroud 4 months. I just went with my mom and that was the timeline they gave us.

Every place might be different but yes you need to order in advance if you are not buying something off the rack. My mom ordered her dress back in November and we are still waiting for it to come in. We are starting to get nervous because she will also need time for alterations. It better get here soon!

Tesi's in Ventnor has dresses that need to be ordered and they take 3-4 months to come in from what I understand.  They may be able to buy off the rack if they go to department stores like Macys, Nordstrom, etc, but the selection may be limited.

As others said give the dress a good four months to come in if you go to most bridal stores.  With David's you can order the dress or buy it right off the rack.  Unless the dress is on clearence, there really is no savings when taking it off the rack vs ordering.  Good luck and happy hunting!
