XP: Pinwheel Death...

I posted this on the DIY board... but maybe my offbeat ladies can be of some assistance.

So, I am making these pinwheels for my FG and I want them to be functional. Right now, they aren't. They are cute... but they don't work worth a darn. It's frustrating the hell out of me that I can't get the stupid thing to spin.

Any one tackled this project and figured out the magically spinning pinwheel secret they are willing to enlighten me with? I'd love you forever!!!!

Grommets!

I knew they needed a hole in them, I just couldn't remember what the little deals were called, lol. Grommets are fairly cheap, too.

grommet sounds like the name of a muppet...

my crop-r-dile (coolest name for a crafting device ever...) was not proving useful in this situation... maybe I need BIGGER gromets?

Yeah, perhaps just larger grommets or maybe your pin is too tight?

Also, Grommet is the name of a claymation dog, lol. Wallace and Gromit, pronounced the same.

That pup will be my BFF if I get this to work... I've got a feisty 2 yead thats going to be ANGRY if her pinwheel doesn't spin :-P

i love wallace and gromit!

anyway, i am also doing pinwheels and have the same issue. i am using a little nail tapped into the dowl - but between the pinwheel and the dowl place a few beads. i read a website that said that should allow them to spin.

let me know how you make out!

You could also use a straw. The straw will be loose on the pin, and the paper will be tight against the straw.
