  Why can't you have all 6?  I think it would be very sad to cut people because of a random number.  And also remember that you don't have to have 6 groom's attendants if you have 6 attendants.  WPs are not about symmetry. 
  
  And FWIW:  many here, including me, consider "Personal Attendant" to be a paid position.  It is not at all an "honor", and I can't begin to imagine why anyone, anyone would need THREE personal attendants, much less one.

  I have 2 sisters and 2 really good friends i asked them all, it worked out well as my FI wanted his 3 friends and my brother.

  Have all of them be in the wedding. I had 6 BM's and 3 of my family members wore one color dress, the other 3 wore the other color. It looked really nice.

  Maybe use all 6 in the wedding, but not all as bridesmaids. If you have candles, maybe 2 could be the candle lighters, maybe one could sit by the guest book and make sure people sign it, one could act as a DOC, if you have one who can play a musical instrument, she could play music sometime, they could act as ushers. 

  
  

  They don't all have to be bridesmaids unless you really want them to.
