Hotel room

We are getting married Sat August 25th.  We aren't leaving for our honeymoon until Monday August 27th.  We aren't getting married in the same state (or time zone) that we live in so I am telling my FI that we should get a hotel room for Sunday night.  He is suggesting we stay at his Dad's house on a futon.  I know that it isn't our wedding night (and lets be honest we have been together for 13 years so it isnt like I am all about the sex either).  But I just find it odd that he wants to start our marriage and honeymoon off by staying at his dad's.  Money isn't an issue so it can't be that, but I for the life of me can not figure out why he doesn't want to stay at a hotel....I have asked and he is just like because( typical man answer)...any thoughts here?  Am i crazy for wanting to get a hotel room Sunday night?

    We are getting married on the other side of the country and aren't leaving for our honeymoon until Monday as well. We're staying in our wedding suite the whole weekend. Maybe tell him it'll be a pain to pack for the night of the wedding, move everything to his dads and then pack again for the honeymoon?

    Does he get to see his dad often?  Maybe he wants to spend some time with him.
    I agree with PP...  maybe explain it will be a pain lugging everything around to another spot.

    I hadn't even thought about this. We're crashing on the couch of our best man's apartment the Sunday before the honeymoon. Since he lives about 15 minute from the airport.

    Is it closer to the airport than a hotel?  I would say if you are leaving for the airport bright and early (we will leave at 2:30am), then it isn't a big deal. But if you will be staying longer, then I would probably do a hotel close to the airport.

    I guess I'm the odd ball out here. We are having a non-traditional wedding and spending out first night married in our own home (15 minutes from the ceremony site) and then the next night is our huge reception on his parents property so we are staying there at their home. I have gotten a lot of comments about "you are staying at your in-laws" but after being together this long and knowing alot of alcohol will be consumed I didn't think it was worth getting transportation to take us to a hotel. Unless it is a huge hassel for you to go and stay at your FIL, I would just let him win this one.

    I don't think you're crazy for wanting to get the hotel room but I also don't think it is weird for him to want to stay at his dad's. We are also getting married the 25th and leaving for our HM the 27th and even though we can afford the hotel room for the night of the 26th I just kind of think it is a waste of money. We'll be hanging with family all day that day and then trying to get a good night's sleep, plus my parents will likely be the ones to take us to the airport. I just think staying at their house would be easier...maybe that is what your FI is thinking too?

    My first thought was that maybe he just wants extra time with his dad.  Or maybe his dad offered and he doesn't want to appear rude??

    We are getting married on a Saturday and leaving for our honeymoon on Monday as well.  We are staying at a hotel on Saturday night, but we are staying with my FI parents on Sunday night.  This is because they live 20 minutes from the airport and our flight leaves at 6:45 in the morning, and they are able to drive us there.  I personally don't see anything wrong with staying at your FI's dad's house, but you aren't crazy for wanting a hotel either.  I would say talk to your FI about it and see what his motivations are...he could want to save money, spend more time with his dad, think it is more convenient, etc.

    We're getting married on the 3rd and leaving for our minimoon on the 4th. We're staying at our apt on the 3rd. to me, this means that I don't really have to pack completely before the wedding or haul the luggage with me all day.
