I'm so frustrated

Picking our honeymoon has been the hardest part of wedding planning. We're both fed up (not with each other, just that we really only get one shot at a badass vacation and we just can't decide on anything) 

FI hates the beach. 
I love the beach
Fi likes to do "activities"
I like to sit and relax 
Fi wants to leave the country, but doesn't want to do Mexico or DR. 
I don't mind leaving the country but we have a little girl and I want to be able to contact her. 
We're trying to stay around 4K, but we'll raise the price if we find something we love. Trying to get somewhere semi warm (wedding in March) Length isn't a huge consideration. I don't really work, and his parents will be watching our daughter. He'd like to keep it around a week. We'd love an all inclusive, or at least something with a drink package. 

Things we've already considered and thrown out:
Caribbean cruise
Mediterranean cruise (his first choice)  
The Florida Keys
Vegas
Napa/Wine Country
Fiji (my first choice if the baby wasn't a consideration) 

Things still possibly on the table:
St. Thomas 
Puerto Rice
Bermuda

    It's not out of the country but what about Hawaii? We're going there for our honeymoon and it was only around 3.5K. When we come back, it'll probably be closer to 4K due to food and souvineirs. 

    Have you considered Europe? I guess it might be too far for you due to your daughter, but here are some countries that have good beaches and a lot of sites to see:

    Italy - we debated about going here, but chose Hawaii since getting a passport for my fiance' would be a hassle, still plan on going maybe for our 5 year.

    Spain
    UK
    Portugal

    Many of the things in the previous post would be over budget if you only have a 4k budget total.

    If I were you I would check out TravelZoo.com and see what deals they have going on. You might find something you both would love to do. I was thinking Costa Rica or Peru or something like that. It has adventure and relaxation. A bit of both.

    Costa del Sol, Spain.  You can stay right along the beach. (The beaches are very nice!)  There's dozens of little shops and restaurants within walking distance.  And there are plenty of excursions you can book.....Granada, Gibraltar....even Morocco is a neat day trip!  We did this trip a couple years ago and flight and hotel was around $1100 per person.  I looked the other day because I was thinking of going again and it was around $1300 per person.  PM me if you are interested and I'll give you more info.

    here's where compromise comes in. since you have different likes you have to find someplace where you can both do what you like and alternate. one day on the beach or pool/one day activities. have you thoguht of costa rica or belize or panama? tons to do, great beaches.

    you dont only get one shot at a badass vacay-you ahve the rest of your lives so dont pressure yourselves with that!!! and unless you go to the ends of the earth you'll have cell or hotel phone service (and email) to keep in touch.

    All of this.  Compromise is the key and know that you have a lifetime to visit all sorts of places, not just the one time for your HM.

    We're totally willing to compromise. We've been to the NC, DE, and MD beaches several times and always managed to have a good time and find things for both of us to do. That's why we thought a cruise would be a nice idea, since I've always heard you can never be bored on a cruise ship. Neither one of us has ever been on a cruise, so it would also be a new fun thing for us. 

    I'm not super comfortable being out on the ocean without a way to really contact his parents, though. We live in Baltimore and the cruises out of our harbor are sort of slim pickings. I guess we could fly down to FL, but that seems to tack on unnecessary costs. 

    He's pretty favorable on Puerto Rico right now, so I'll start my research again.

    I'm going to throw a vote in for Bermuda.  It might be a bit on the cooler side in March, however, but there's still plenty to do and relaxtion to be had. 

    We married there in May and didn't sit on the beach once!  We went to the aquarium, out to dinners, crystal caves, golfed, biked, swam with dolphins and explored the island from tip to tip.  Mostly our days were breakfast, activity, late lunch, hotel to relax, dinner/drinks and bed.  It was a great mix of relaxation and activities.

    Bermuda will definitely be cooler, we went for Spring Break one year and couldn't get in the water. It also raked quite a bit.

    I've heard Bermuda is pretty expensive for an island.  I'm not sure if they have AI's or not.  I've never looked into it.  Plus, I think it might be a little cold/cool in March.  I would vote for Puerto Rico from your list.

    Use a travel agent, don't do it all yourself.  They are free of charge and will do all your grunt work.  There are tons of them on here, too.  Look for your local vendors on here...

    No.  Bermuda does not have AIs.  (I'm really anti AI and not everyone is looking for that).

    We spent a lot of money there, but it's because we stayed a very high end resort.  It could easily have been done for less.  I don't think $4,000 is an unreasonable budget.

    Puerto Rico is okay, but wasn't my cup of tea.  I think other areas in the Carribbean are nicer and have just as many activities.  I just wanted to throw a little Bermuda love out - it's not all beaches and you can have a good time there in cooler weather because there are so many other things to do.

    I think Bermuda would be a great pick, and definitely doable for $4000, especially flying from the east coast.  But in March it's just not going to be warm enough, I don't think, especially if one of her priorities is relaxing on the beach.  

    Joy, you're right in that not everyone wants an AI (I rarely do), but OP did say that's something she was looking for.

    My pick is Puerto Rico. I went there on a girls trip this year for 4 nights and 5 days and had a blast. We booked a flight/hotel combo through JetBlue.com and it was only $500 a person so you could def do a longer honeymoon for a fantastic price. Our beachfront resort (El San Juan Resort & Casino) was beautiful! They had a nightclub, lounges, a casino, and plenty of restaurant options on site and close by. We took a taxi to downtown for only $15 to visit the historical forts and do some shopping. The views were great. They have the rainforest, Bacardi Rum Distillery Tour, and nighttime bioluminecent kayak tours for fun activites. It's centrally located.     I stopped in puerto rico on a cruise a few years ago and really I did not enjoy it very much. I thought the city was very dirty and the beaches we not very clear although isla verde was actually pretty nice. On the same cruise we also went to st.thomas and Bermuda. Bermudas water was pretty chilly, even in early summer so I imagine march would be downright cold. St.Thomas on the other hand was beautiful, Sapphire beach was fantastic and I wish we could have been there longer than just a day. St.Maarten is a similar island and I have spent two amazing weeks there a few years apart and have had a great time, there is a good mix of things to do such as hiking to the top of the island, visiting the local markets and festivals and snorkeling as well as fantastic beaches and relaxation! Pinel 'island' is a beach a few hundred yards off the mainland accessible by ferry, jetski, or even paddleboarding and is an absolutely amazing place! The calmest water, a proteced snorkeling 'trail' and lobster pulled from the water and grilled on the spot. The island is dual owned by the Dutch and French, and my reccomendation if you decide to look into St.Maarten is to look at hotels on the Dutch side because they are less expensive, but still close to the French side for the best beaches and cultural experience and not to mention the best food! there are some Ai, I believe Sonesta hotels, and possibly Divi hotel. Renting a car is still a must though! And I had cell and Internet to connect to backhome with no problem! I have also been to Costa Rica recently and had an equally amazing but totally different experience. The beaches were beautiful and many of the bays offered perfect relaxation I layed on a pool float in the ocean for hours and watched the fish swim under me. But there is also so much to do! We traveled from Papgayo peninsula island to the volcano where we rappelled down a 200 ft waterfall and zip lined through the jungle. They also offer things like whitewater rafting. After all that many hotels in the area Have natural hot spring pools and spas fed by the volcano. There are several AIs on all areas of CR as well as lots of CR deals on Groupon. I got engaged there this year and would absolutely go back for my honeymoon if it wasnt in the rain season! Same as St.maarten, we had no problem with connecting to people back home.
