less RSVP yes's than I expected

We invited 205 and have only got about 130 coming so far and still waiting for about 24 RSVP's, and our respond date is by May 1! Do most people who wait to the last minute to respond say yes or no??  Anyone in my same boat? This is kinda upsetting...we already have 32 No's..... :(

Yes, most wait until the last minute, unfortunately. In fact, figure on many of them putting their RSVP into the mailbox ON YOUR RSVP DATE. For some reason, many guests think of it as a postmark-by date. So, I'd give it a week beyond your RSVP date, then call or email the non-responders for an answer. Goood luck! It sucks.

We are in the same situation.  124 invitations sent out, about 40 still MIA, RSVP date May 1.  I began contacting people last week to remind them of the RSVP date and also to be sure they got the invitations (some did get lost in the mail).  Yesterday I got 7 RSVPs.  I hope they come pouring in today and tomorrow!  Or else...

People always wait until the last minute - expect to get the majority that you have missing within the next week.  Do not start calling people until a week after the RSVP date - give the cards a chance to come in.  Also, just because they're "late" doesn't mean they're a "no".  Some people just get busy and forget to send the back the card.  Most of my last minute people were a Yes...

I worked on RSVPs with my daughter and daughter-in-law. With both weddings about 5/8 of the people were yes votes. One wedding - over 500 invited, 307 yes. The other wedding - over 450 invited and 288 yes. We were surprised at how many people did send them the last week. We received a lot 3 or 4 days after the deadline, like they had the deadline date on the calendar and sent them that day!

Get ready to call people. Our experience...1/2 the people we called said they were coming and 1/2 the people were not! So there is no way to know. If your reception has assigned seating, you have to know.

Good luck. I think this was the most stressful job of all! Favors depend on it, seating arrangements depend on it...almost everything!

I aggree with a previous post, wait until one week after the rsvp date before you contact people. our rsvp date was april 16th, and we got responses up until earlier this week, some yes and som no some people do forget to respond! i sent a few facebook messages to my friends, and found that one never even got his invitation! a few didn't get an rxvp card with their invitation so they didnt have anything to send back (bridesmaids helped me stuff them, tisk tisk) so its always good to follow up!

I agree with waiting until a week after they are due. I am going to have a framed seating chart made. Since I knew that I made my responses due a week earlier than I would have if I weren't. I recommend setting your RSVP date a little earlier than what you need so that you don't have to call around. Our RSVP date was May 5th and we have about 90% of them.
