tiara or no tiara?

I am having trouble deciding if I want to get a tiara. Money is really tight so I have to watch what I spend. Also, I am wearing my hair half up and half down so I don't know if I really need one. What are you girls doing for yours?

Re: tiara or no tiara?

• No tiara for me. I really don't like them. I want to look elegant, not an over-the-top princess. That said, I have a very casual style compared to most and if you have always dreamed of wearing a tiara, this is probably your only chance to do so!
• I am not heir to a royal seat of any country, so I will not be wearing a tiara.

• I'm also wearing a half-up, half-down style, and I am wearing a sparkly barrette in the back. It cost me $10 on eBay.

I think it's a good idea to have *something* in your hair, especially if you are wearing a veil that you'll be taking off at some point in the reception, because it helps give the style a more finished and interesting look. But you certainly don't HAVE to put anything in your hair.

If you want a personal opinion on tiaras, I think a lot of them look too much like a little girl playing princess. But some of the more subtle ones are very nice. And like PP said, if you want one then this is your chance to wear one.

You have a lot of options besides a tiara - fresh or silk flower, headband, pins, combs, barrette(s), sticks, etc. And if you are looking for a less expensive tiara, look on eBay or Craigslist. Or see if a friend has one you can borrow (I had a friend offer to loan me TWO, which I politely declined because they just weren't my style).

• i'm wearing a sparkly crystal headband.  I, as well, am not a princess, but I do enjoy sparkly headbands.

Me too! Love my headband.

I'm still debating on selling my dress but I am DEFINITELY keeping the headband. Even if we don't have kids I figure my niece may want to borrow it for her wedding, or prom or something.
• Personally, I am not a fan as I am not a pretty, pretty, princess.  Plus they just really aren't my style as I tend to be low-key.  I will be wearing a veil for the ceremony then most likely putting on a headband/barrette.

But as a PP mentioned, if you want to wear one, now is your really your only time to get away with it.
• I too am not a fan of tiaras....but the sparkly headband idea is totally up my ally!  I think that would look great!
• Tiaras are not my style. But like PP have said, this is really just about your only chance to wear one. Not sure if you want one? Do your hair half-up half-down and go try some on. You don't have to buy a new one, like others have said you can find them on eBay or Craigslist.
• I LOVE tiaras so I will be wearing one at my wedding.  Mine cost more than I should have spent, but you can find them for under $20 at Walmart or even Michales/JoAnns.  I am wearing my hair half up, half down with my tiara, veil, and blusher!

• I was origionally planning to wear my hair half up, half  down with a tiara. Ultimately, I ended up hating the tiara with my hairstyle. I am not a fan of the bump that seems to be so in style for the last couple years, and I felt like the tiara gave that sort of look with that hair style. I do have really, really thick hair, though, so you might not have that problem. I ended up picking out a different hair do that worked better with the tiara. So, if you have thick hair, be open to change if you really want the tiara. But remember, this is the one time in your life no one's going to look at you funny for dressing like a princess, so if you want a tiara, you should have it!

• I agree...unless you are royalty leave the tiara at the store....A nice headband or barrette will give you the sparkle you are looking for and not look tacky.
• Tiaras are the ultimate of all bridal tackiness...
They're meant for children playing dress up- you are supposed to look beautiful and elegant and regal, not pretend royal.

Don't do it!! For the love of God!
• Personally tiaras have a serious ick factor for me but I say wear what you want. It's about what you like and not anyone else.

oriental trading has some rhinestone tiaras that look bridal-y of course one of the ones in there is the one my mom ordered for me when I was 8 and wanted to be sleeping beauty for holloween.

not even grace kelly wore a tiara for her wedding, and she was a princess. 'nuff said.

the only wedding I have been to where the bride wore one, she was 20, had been planning her 'big day' since she was 5, and it looked that way, like a 5 year old planned it with the help of the disney princess brigade.
