I don't know if this is the right board to post on, but I feel like my problem is tied into my wedding being in Hawaii.
I'm getting married in June 2012 on Oahu. Originally my plan was to have a really elegant/chic/modern look for my reception (which is in a ballroom at a very nice hotel), and I was planning on doing everything in shades of white with some cool taupe/candlelight colored lighting. I've been rethinking this idea because I have no idea what color I would want to put my bridesmaids in, and I'm morally opposed to having them also in white. So, I wanted to have them in a bright color, but now I feel obligated to change my reception to also include a bright color. I have never been good at working with color, so I thought maybe a black and white scheme. My friends are telling me that I can't have black and white in Hawaii in the summer and that I NEED to have a color.
I just don't know what to do. I don't like green, purple, blue, brown, yellow.... The photos I've googled online of red weddings look like Valentine's day... I secretly want pink and orange, but FI says we can't because it would look like a half-a$$ed Indian wedding... He's also opposed to uber trendy color combos... I'm at a loss here, Ladies. I really want to stick to my shades of white color scheme and I was thinking of doing hints of gold until I realized that it would clash with my dress, which has silver... and I feel like silver and white would be for a winter wedding, not summer.. Is there any color I could put my maids in that would look okay with an all white/ivory wedding? Or would I have to tie that color in to my reception decor? I've decided I might be okay with changing to a raspberry, but I have no idea what color I could put with it that isn't gold or brown... I'm terrified my wedding is going to look like a disasterous patchwork quilt...
