Tent ac?

We are having a tented reception in Maryland in early September. Its not particularly hot at night but I'm worried that a tent with 130 people is going to get too hot with just fans. Has anyone rented an air conditioner for a tent and was it worth the cost considering I'd also have to pay for walls too then? Heat doesn't bother me but my mother hates being hot.
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Tent ac?

  • We are having a tented reception in October. I was worried about everyone being too cold & suggested adding the sides of the tents (currently they will be set-up without sides). I was told that the sides make/keep the tent extremely hot. Not sure if your tent is with or without the sides, but might be a suggestion to consider.
  • I wouldn't think it would be too hot in Sept. But I guess these days, it's hard to predict. We had a tent ceremony on 6/2 with a wall on one side of the tent. It was a breezy 75 degrees so it was perfect... but the weekend before was 95 degrees and humid so we would have roasted under those conditions.

What about just providing fans or having fans inside the tent rather than A/C? May save you some $$?

  • We have a big tent for our reception and are using 3-4 fans just to circulate some air.

  • I definitely think you'll want at least some fans to keep the air moving.  Also think about your dress - do you think you'll get warm in it?

I looked into it for my wedding in August. It was going to cost more than the wedding itself. I would just stick with fans.
