Hawaii- - Honeymoon

On average how long should a honeymoon last?

Re: Hawaii- - Honeymoon

  • Really, it's as long as you can afford to take off from work or wht you can afford with your budget. It also depends on if you're trying to see 1 island, 2 islands, 3, etc. I'd say no less than 4 nights per island, but if you're only going to one island, I'd say no less than 7 nights, especially since you're coming from the East Coast.

  • How ever long you want it to be! We're also going to Hawaii (coming from the East Coast) and we're spending 5 nights on Maui and 2 nights on Oahu. Based off of our plans that seems like plenty of time to see the major sites on each island, plus have a few beach days.
  • as long as your budget and time off allow.

We were in Maui for 8 nights.  I would say 5 nights minimum.
  • I would think of a few things: cost, how much time you can get off work, travel time, and what all you want to do there.

We did Oahu for our HM and it was an 8.5 hour flight from Chicago. We were jet lagged our first day and spent most of it traveling so I didn't even really consider that a "day" of our vacation. Likewish, our last day there we got up, had breakfast, and immediately went to the airport. So though we were there for 9 days, we realy had 7 actual days to do things.

If you are doing more than one island, I'd say 8-9 days minimum. For one island, I think 7 days is the minimum I would want (total including travel time). On ours, we spent half the time out exploring and doing active things and half the time in the infinity pool or on the beach relaxing. Honestly I could have stayed even longer and felt that, had it been shorter, we would have felt rushed and had not as much time to relax (or would've had to sacrifice some activities). We are planning a trip back to Maui and Kauai and plan to do 5 nights on each island.

  • I like to balance the distance with the time I spend there. Hawaii was a decent flight for me, but not terribly far. We spend 2 weeks but I would have been ok with only 1 week for that flight distance. Our next trip is Colombia which is quite a bit farther. We'll spend 3 weeks. If I can do a direct flight <5 hours I'll do a long weekend trip.

Time off from work plays in! How much you have to spend as well....How much there is to do there.
