Dress Shopping In NC

So before long i'll be starting the hunt for my wedding dress. I'd really like to stay in NC if possible so I'd like to know about some the boutiques and how your experiences went.

I got my dress from Victorian Rose Bridals in Raleigh, I had a great experience there and Daphne was very helpful! She spent 100% of her time with me until I left. However, I priced my dress through several stores, I found it the cheapest at Pearl's Place in LA, Victorian Rose matched their price... saved me ALOT of money on my dress.

I also went dress shopping at Bridal Mart, I would recommend going there during the week. On the weekends, it's extremely busy. You can find a good deal there, but just be aware before going that their samples are not kept in the best condition. I tried on some that were ripped, etc. and some were very dirty, I really felt like I needed a shower afterwards. Just being honest.

We got our BM dresses thru Bridal Mart though, they also do price matching, and Pearl's Place in LA also had the cheapest price for the BM dresses. It saved my girls about $70 each on their dresses.

What area are you in? I got my dress at Lana Addison in Cary. We had the best experience there and the dresses were absolutely beautiful! I also went to Bridal Mart and found nice dresses, but don't expect the personal attention of a boutique (but the dresses are cheaper - so do consider that!) I also went to several places in Fayetteville since that's where I am originally from and where my mom and I started looking. If you're in that area, there are some decent places to check (the best being An Affair to Remember) but nothing that really stands out.

I went to the Wedding Mall in Charlotte...I never actually looked at wedding dresses b/c they charge a fee just to look! So we looked a BM dresses instead and didnt really find anything we liked.

I have also gone to Anjoliques in Huntersville and Lincolnton. The one in Huntersville was ok only b/c the girl helping us was someone I graduated high school with...but I didn't find the dress. The one in Lincolnton--and I hate saying this bc thats my hometown--was aweful!  The service was sub par at best.  There were all these high school girls there working with prom people and there were like 10 wedding dresses in the entire store. I did find a dress I really realy really liked--not loved not the dress--but its tag was ripped out and they said it was a one of a kind blah blah blah. I didn't buy it!

Oh I have been to Davids Bridal in Pineville and Greenville....horrible service..the first store turned me away (right after I left the bridal show where I was told go ahead over and look at dresses by an employee) the other didnt want to help me and my friend look at dresses even though she needed to buy a dress that day! I would avoid that chain.  Oh and if you find a dress there you better be ready to buy bc they discoutinue their dresses like every 6 months--that came from an employee I know who hated her job bc she knows the chain was so rude to customers all the time. She worked at yet another location.

Anyways I hope this helps some.  I just am not a fan of bad service or paying to browse dresses.

The stores you look at can also depend on your budget. Are you looking for a big designer or looking to spend less?

I found my dress at Traditions in North Hills. I love this store, they have some gorgeous gowns and the service was great.  However, I found my dress cheaper at Pearl's Place in LA and found a store in Charlotte that would match it.

I'd also recommend Victorian Rose and Enchanting Moments in Fuquay. Although, Enchanting Moments can be kind of snooty, they have some great gowns and the service is very good.  I was the only one in the store when I went and found some serious dress contenders.

I've looked in tons of magazines and found some Maggie Sottero's that are GORGEOUS. And I'm very intrested in trying some on. I'd like to stay around $3,000.

Most Maggie's are way under 3k.  Look on their website and they list stores that carry Maggie dresses.  If you are looking to try on a specific Maggie I would call the store to make sure they have it to try on.  You can also call Maggie headquarters and they can tell you where in your area a certain dress has been shipped so you can just call those stores to make sure they have a sample.

Anjolique in Huntersville is an awesome store, but not everyone finds what they are looking for  at every store. Anjolique expanded this year and the Lincolnton store was changed over this year to "Prom Only".  Maybe that's why there were only a few bridal gowns left there. It was because they had over 500 prom gowns and 500 bridal and couldn't fit it in one store and there were too many customers to accomodate.
By the way,  if there were no tags in the gown you really liked it probably was because it was a designer sample gown, or a gown which did not make it to production.  Alot of times designer sample gowns won't have their name tag in them if they do not go to production. These gowns are still sold individually to stores.  However, a store cannot reorder from them.  So the are  true one of a kind gowns.  So it may not have been "blah blah blah" but actually the truth they were telling  you.

NY Bride in Charlotte was a FABULOUS experience!

I was referred to their boutique by a friend who got married a couple of months ago and it was a great experience from start to finish.  They are not at all pushy, no appointments are necessary and they will assist you as much or as little as your prefer.  They have a large selection of dresses including the Maggie Sottero....which is what manufacturer I found the dress for me!  The prices are good...after purchasing I did a google search and their price was on point for what I found online.  Loved it!
