The Federal Ball Room

Has anyone ever had their wedding at this venue?? If so can you please share your experiences?

My wedding will not be there, but I did tour the venue. It is really lovely, but I had a real problem with the fact that the room is carpeted. I found that to be a bizarre choice for an event facility. The "no red wine" rule was all I needed to hear to know that this was not the place for me. It's a very cool venue, though. The elevator was a fun little touch too.

I will be having my reception there in May.  I have not been to any other event there, but I am excited to have ours there.  So far it's been very pleasant and easy to deal with Rebecca (the coordinator there) and every vendor I'm dealing with has good things to say about the venue and the service.Hope this helps!

I am going next month to tour the facility. I have spoken with Rebecca the only thing I didn't like was that when I asked her how much the rental fee was for what I wanted to do she told me starting at 3000. She wouldn't give me an exact price for the rental fee and she also was very vauge about what vendors they used as far as the  reception is concerned.

while i can understand your distaste with the "no red wine rule" it is actually in your favor. SOP also has this rule, and i was fine with it...they do it for 2 reasons....their linens stay clean and noone spills red wine on the brides dress.

Tracy, good point! I just saw some wedding photos from a friend of a friend's recent wedding (the beauty of facebook, haha), and someone actually DID spill red wine all over her dress! What a nightmare- and the photographer captured the entire thing!! So, no red wine for me (or anyone who wants to come near me!).

The rental fee is a flat $3000 for the venue.  That does not include anything else.  She said "starting at" because it depends what else you choose to add on.  I don't think you have a choice about security, but you can choose to use their tables and chairs, or rent your own.  You also have to rent a dance floor, which the size of is up to you.  Also, it does not include catering, which you have to bring in from outside, but you have to use one of their "preferred caterers."  I'm using Capdeboscq for mine.  I'm not sure what the other ones are.  As far as the rest of the vendors (florists, djs, photographers), all of that is left up to you - no preferred list to choose from.Hope this helps!

I absolutely LOVED the Federal Ballroom. It was exactly what I had envisioned... simple and elegant. After viewing it, I knew I had to have it. Unfortunately, although I loved the venue, I didn't go with them. I found Rebecah to be very flighty. She rarely answered direct questions. She took days to weeks to return emails.  I sent her countless emails and sometimes got responses. It really is a shame. I loved it so much but I couldn't set my self up for the stress that would go along with having someone like that in charge of my reception.
