Vent- kind of long- sorry

I'm getting really frustrated with our reception venue coordinator. It's one of the ritziest (is that a real word?) venues around here and the woman we are supposed to be working with is putting off getting anything done. She just keeps saying "we'll worry about it when it gets closer." Well, we're just over 5 months out and have yet to do a tasting so the catering contract isn't done & we don't have any idea what our options are with the bar. I finally got her on the phone the other day and said "when exactly were you planning to schedule our tasting?" Her response, "June or July so your taste buds are in tune with the season." REALLY?! My wedding is Aug.3rd and I need to pick our entree options so I can finally order my invitations. She finally agreed to do it in April but its like pulling teeth.
She's also being a pain about getting me table sizes and meeting with me to figure out our layout so I can go look at linen rentals. UGH! I tried to call the rental place to set an appointment and they won't see me until I know what sizes I need, so everything's held up because of this one gal. They acted so surprised that someone at that venue was giving me a hard time. Maybe I need to ask to work with someone else.

  • I'd ask to work with a different coordinator. Definitely explain, in detail, how she's been such a pain to work with. "Tastbuds are in tune with the season"? She sounds like a ridiculous lady. If they don't get you a different coordinator, go to the venue and see her in person. Face-to-face, say "Hey douchecanoe, you're crapping on my wedding planning with your hoity toity bologna. If I ask for something, I'm not paying you to try and tell me when you think it's a good time to give it to me. I'm paying a lot, and I expect comparable service. Please, get me the measurements for the tables, so I can make an appointment with the rental place."

    Or you can say something nicer, to that effect.
  • I don't think you need to do a tasting right this second. Maybe offer a compromise and ask to schedule one in April/May. Explain that you need to prepare the invitations and menu cards?, and the sooner you know the details the sooner you can get going on that.

  • That's ridiculous.. I would suggest to ask for a new coordinator. Or maybe speak with her manager and see why the hold up. Sorry - GL!

  • Do you have to have to know everyones entree? At one wedding I went to at a very upscale place there were like three choices and they took your order at the table, it wasn't ever done before on the card. Maybe this place works like that?

    I have worked in resturaunts for years, and if they try and do a seasonal, fresh menu they might have different products and menu choices which is why shes trying to delay the tasting. Although she did say it in a very wierd way! 

    I would ask for a different coordinator since is seems like you two are just clashing. I did that with my venue and it has made a world of difference. My first coordinator would never explain things and give me bs answers like yours is. My second one explains why something happens the way it does, and so I feel more comfortable about why something isn't going the way I orginially thought it should.

  • I can see how you might want to get the table sizes but we aren't picking our menu until July and out stationer doesn't want it until then. Everyone gets so over prepared there dresses are sitting in their closets for six months. GL!
  • bahahaha @douchecanoe! I agree about asking to work with a different coordinator!  How silly she doesn't know the size of the tables- it takes 5 seconds to measure it!  

    Theres enough stress planning a wedding, the people who are meant to be helping you shouldnt be making it more stressful!
