Honeymoon Advice.. Help!

I'm getting married next September/October... Where is the best place to go at this time of year.. Where is the best weather? Where did you go, and how long were you there?
My fiance and I are not partiers. We don't drink, so we are more into activities like swimming with dolphins and scenery an that sorta thing. An ideal place would be a very secluded spot with tons of tropical plants with a beach with not a lot of people!
Thanks ladies!! :)

Re: Honeymoon Advice.. Help!

  • September and October are really risky months as far as the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico goes because of hurricane season so my vote would be for Hawaii. You can definitely get all those things you're looking for there.
  • Especially if you don't drink you could do Hawaii easily (several couples are drawn away from HI b/c there aren't any all inclusives)

We're going to Secrets Maroma in Riveria Maya in 17 days for our HM.  It's in Mexico, but we bought travel insurance, which includes hurricane coverage.  It's AI, adults only and supposed to have one of the world's most gorgeous beaches.

I stayed at Iberostar Riveria Maya in Oct 2008 for my bro's DW and the weather was gorgeous then too...it's all a game of chance I suppose!
  • Well, because that time period can be a big hurricane threat, I'd recommend Aruba. It's not in the hurricane zone and rarely gets any bad weather. They have a consistent sunny 80 degree days with a light breeze. It's absolutely beautiful!

  • beware of aruba in september...my friend just got back last week and it rained the whole entire time...i don't know if was just a fluke thing, but thought i share.

  • If you aren't into the Caribbean because fear of weather, Hawaii, Tahiti and Fiji are your best bets.

Costa Rica is nice but it is rainy season in October.

If your budget allows... do Tahiti or Fiji.  You won't be disappointed.

  • I have talked to a million different people when we were deciding our honeymoon spot.  FI was anti mexico because of all of their problems over there..just not safe even though everything is dirt cheap but for this very reason.  Everyone I talked to said Aruba was the place to go...not one single bad thing was said about it.  Usually September and early October can be possibly rainy months...possibly.  But, normally they say weather is perfect all year round with a constant 80 degrees but it has a great breeze because of where it's located south of the hurricane belt--so it misses those typical no go sept/october travel months for the carribbean.  Our wedding is this upcoming Saturday and we don't leave until a week after, the 16th through the 23rd and we'll be staying at the Occidental Grand Aruba All Inclusive Resort....after hearing some many great reviews I couldn't say no to it's beaches and sun :o)
  • I'm pretty well traveled and have been a lot of places.  In terms of finding complete seclusion, exotic like you never expected, but luxurious, and something that you'll never forget I highly recommend the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru in the Maldives.

There are many discount websites you can buy from too so you can get a much better price than what is advertised on the website.
