Marriage License Requirements

I've looked online but I'm not real clear what documents we need to bring with us when getting our marriage license. Do we need our birth certificates or social security cards? Do we need both, one or the other, or none? Any info anyone can provide is appreciated!

    Polk County?

    We each needed to have a picture ID.  You also need to bring a witness who will also need a picture ID.

    I believe it was 30-35 dollars.

    Regardless of the county, all you need is your driver's licenses and a witness over the age of 18 [also with a driver's license].  You can access the forms on line and fill them out before you go in, which speeds things up.

    The fee is $35.  Once you submit the application for license, there is a 3 day waiting period for the license itself.  A license taken in any Iowa county is "good" for marriage in that or any other Iowa county.
