My grandfather was in The Gideons (the people that put Bibles in hotels, jails, hospitals, etc) for 20+ years until he passed away 8 years ago.  My grandmother is still on the Auxillary, and my parents are now members, as well.  Since I grew up going to conventions and ocassionally helping with Bible placement, and to honor the memory of my grandfather, we're having New Testaments handed to our guests as they come through the receiving line after the ceremony.  We're also making a bookmark with Granddaddy's picture and a verse.  We haven't decided on the verse yet.

**If you're interested in doing this, you'll need to contact your local Gideon camp.  You'll have to purchase the Bibles, and at least 2 male Gideons must be there to hand them out.  The New Testaments for public distribution only come in brown or light blue.
    www.gideons.org

We're also doing a candy buffet at the reception.  We haven't ordered candy yet, but if you google "wholesale candy" a LOT of sites pop up.  We've been collecting jars and bowls since last summer.  We'll have small bags available so guests can take the candy home.  We're planning to buy approximately 1/4 lb per guest.  Most sites/threads that I've read suggest 1/4-1/2 lb per guest.

We are making homemade fudge (mom and I make awesome fudge!!) and we're going to put a few (maybe 4) bites in plastic wrap, wrap it in a white tulle square, and tie it with green and cream colored ribbons to match my color scheme, and put a thank-you and photo-sharing card on the ribbon so when people take the favors home, they know how to get any photos to us digitally.  :-)  We are only inviting around 150, but we're making around 200 fudge favors... people will take extra at the end of the night, we think.  :-)

I'm doing mini organza bags of Hershey's Bliss Chocolate :) Simple and understated. I'm not into favors and we are running out of money. LOL!!

    those are cute ideas!

at first we were going to do hershey's hugs and kisses in box with "hugs and kisses from the bride and groom"
but then we wanted red and white m&ms (Martin and Monica..i thought it was cute).

but my sister and i started talking about a candy buffet and i REALLY like that idea! i think its soo cute and unique and makes favors fun for the guests.
my wedding planner has 4 large jars with silver lid and that comes off sideways (like in old candy shoppes) and several matching dishes.

    i am gonna talk to FI but i think we are gonna go with this! (: i found cute little signs to put on the table too. (;
like "grab a bag, take some treats, and just reember that love is sweet." or "how sweet it is to by loved by you."

    ideas ideas. lol.

We are doing little wrapped blue spruce seedlings... like these below.  One per couple, they can plant it in their backyard or in a pot on their balcony or just in a field somewhere, and our love will grow forever and ever...

And then we are also having little baggies of chocolate cookies (baked by my FSIL/FGs) for an end of the night take-home treat, as a nod to one of my FI's and my first dates, where we baked cookies - but my FI didn't have ANY baking supplies so they were the most expensive cookies ever - we had to buy a baking sheet, flour, everything!

haha, that is sooo cute, naomi!

i just thought of something that may present a problem with my candy buffet. my FI (and FMIL) are total germaphobics! lol. i am not sure they will be okay with guests serviing themselves and "touching everything"

Oh gosh SARAH!!  Congratulations on your very soon to be wedding!!

We made a mock up of a candle with a little clay ticket that reads "Ticket To Love" and "Admit Two" on them.  Also we have a blue and a white soap rose for everyone, and I think there is something else but I can't remember.  :P

My dad works for a candy company, so they will be customizing truffles for us. I haven't given them my final word on what the flavors are but some I'm considering are an dark chocolate with orange cream, milk chocolate with lemon strawberry, a milk chocolate with caramel and sea salt topping, and if FI's grandma is up to it, she makes OH buckeyes which are the same size and style of truffles. We're going to attached a tag that says "Handmade by Dad" and possibly grandma if we go that route too. We're trying to add as many personal touches as we can, hence the addition of buckeyes (FH is from Ohio and his entire family are HUGE Buckeye fans...so yes, it is currently "Madness Fever" around here...)

We made 2 inch square origami boxes in our wedding colors and put hershey's kisses inside them. They had a thin ribbon and silver charm across the top of each box as well.

AH yay for a fellow Buckeye fan! I may not have been raised there but I'm destined to cheer for them from now on! I didn't have any opinions on college sports before FH (aside from Messiah Men's Soccer, GO FALCONS!) so in order for the future in-laws (immediate and extended!) not to hate me, I wear scarlet and gray :) Even got me a Buckeyes jersey!

We are doing a donation to a charity instead of a favor. Our wedding theme is "Our Love Stroy" and we are big fans of Make-A-Wish, so I think we might print up cards that say "in lieu of a favor, we have made a contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make kids' dreams come true, like ours did when we became husband and wife" or something along those lines.

We skipped favors all together and spent that money on more food.  That's all people want anyway!
