When to start resgistering?

We are not sending out STDs, so I was originally thinking that we didn't need to register until the invitations went out, but people are already asking us where we're registered. When should we start building a registry? Is it appropriate to put this info on the invitations???

    I dont think you are supposed to put it on your wedding invitations, bridal shower invitations, yes. I think if people ask you can tell them and then it will spread by word of mouth. I didn't register until a couple of weeks before my bridal shower invitaitions went out, which was about 2.5 months before the wedding.

    I actually started about 3 mos ago (so about 6 before the wedding). I just wanted to get it out of the way - the closer it gets to the wedding,the more stuff there is to do.  Just be careful w/ seasonal items because they can get disontinued. This only happened with a couple things we registered for.

    I started mine the month after our engagement but that was because I went to a wedding expo with my FMIL & FSIL for a girls day and they had free gifts for registering at Macys so I jumped on board :)

    I wouldn't put registry info on your invitations though, it's okay for the bridal shower invite.

    Same as bluedrangonfly - I registered early because there were special promotions for gift cards with the two stores I chose. There's not much on them yet, because we're still a LONG way away from the wedding. 

    No registry info on wedding invitations!!

    Don't put registry info on your invitations!! The most you can do is include a card with your wedding website on it (if you have one), and include the registry info on your website.

    We started out registry at about 4 months out but we're not done. I plan to get it ready to go by the end of this month, which will be about 2 months out, because I'm having a shower in September.

    We did ours like six months out. I agree with everybody else don't put it on your invitations.
