officiant cost

Do you think $650 is a lot for an officiant? I have no idea what the average price is because I've been getting a big range.

I think that's on the high end of the range.

I've been meeting with officiants this week and their rates are 500-800. So $650 is average for what I've seen!

Wow!  That is expensive.  We asked our friend's father/ Minister to marry us.  We are paying for his hotel room (since he is traveling from upstate NY), and then he asked that we give a donation to the church.  I think that is standard for his church and not a special rate for us.

We paid more than that for our officiant (celebrant). We had such a connection with her, there's no one else we would have wanted to marry us. She wrote a beautiful ceremony, we got a lot of compliments on it.

That's about average.  Mine was 1900 for two but it was hard to find a rabbi and rev.

Our Rabbi is $600 and I felt that was about the average from the research I had done.  It is tax deductible though as it is considered a donation.
