Acne Spot Treatment

I started breaking out on my chest a couple weeks ago. This never happens and isn't going away. I wash it with my regular facewash to keep it less noticeable. Anyone recommend any spot treatments? TIA

Re: Acne Spot Treatment

  • I use the Clearasil treatment gel.  You put it on the acne and rub it in on the spots.  It helps clear up my skin in 2 days.

This. I also use a concealer with medication in it. Covergirl makes it.

Murad spot treatment from Sephora!  It works the fastest out of any spot treatment that I've tried.  I put it on as soon as I get a bump/red spot, and it's gone by the next day.  Love it!!!

  • I use Mary Kay's spot treatment.

  • I swear by the Rite Aid brand benzyl peroxide - 10%, but be careful...it bleaches EVERYTHING!! I think it's generic for the Clean & Clear version.

I've also found that the neutrogena body wash with microbeads works great for bodys stuff!!
  • I love Mary Kay's - my mother is a consultant. If you want I can give you the link to her web site.

I can probably twist her arm into giving a Knottie discount =)

OK, so your blemishes are caused by two things simultaneously; oil and dead skin cells.  Benzoyl peroxide will dry up the oil, but you're still going to have dead skin cells clogging your pores. (Yum!!)
I would also add a salicylic acid body wash.  Neutrogena makes one that smells like grapefuit.  It's what I use on my back.  Salicylic acid promotes cell disadhesion.  That is a complicated way of saying that it helps the cells let go and go away.

Another really important thing is to remember to moisturize when you're done.  It sounds counterintuitive, but it's not.  When you dry and exfoliate your skin, it gets dry.  When your skin gets dry, its natural reaction is to protect itself by making more oil.  If you use a nice oil-free moisturizer after youdo the other stuff, it'll keep that from happening.

  • Thanks Chris! My moms a pharmacist and helps me get products so I always make sure it has one of those ingredients. I'm so annoyed because I never get it on my neck or chest but now it won't go away!

<div>Yea...my routine definitely consists of both...as well as an AHA to help get rid of the dead skin!</div>
  • I was going to recommend salicylic acid as well!  FI uses Seabreeze on his neck after shaving and it really helps those pores to keep from getting clogged.
