Maybe too much on my plate...

Soooo, I work full time, started taking classes for my BCBA certification, I start my duel master's program in October for I/O and Clinical Psych and I still have to plan my wedding. OH ANNNNNND we are remodeling our house. I think I might be insane.

  • I think you might be too. ;)

What aspect of clinical psych are you pursuing?

  • Id like to either work in the business world doing productivity seminars or something like that and clinically, Id like to work in the prison system :)

  • FWIW, I'm pursuing my Master's full time (and I'm took 3 classes over the summer to finish early), I teach full time, I volunteer and, obviously, do social things, like book club. I've just started planning early and taking care of things as soon as I can, so that I'm not a bundle of nerves throughout the entire planning process. It sounds like you have more on your plate in terms of school, but you can certainly do it. It's going to take awesome time management skills, though.

Where do you work/what kind of work do you do currently?
  • Yeah. I keep going back and forth on if I want to do it all at once. Although, FI is supportive and plays ungodly amounts of WoW sooooo, I just do school work while he plays and to sit for the boards for the BCBA I have to have my masters so it makes sense to do it concurrently. :p
You ladies may be seeing many more posts as the work gets harder and harder

  • Wow that is a lot. You're definitely going to have to work on your time management but it's definitely doable!

Your wedding is over a year away. You have plenty of time.

As it gets closer you probably will want to take less classes that semester or take a semester off, but wedding planning is not that insane this far out.

FWIW: I was in school, bought and renovated a house, planned 2 baby showers and a bridal shower for friends, and attending 6 wedding all within a year of my wedding.

    And I work 6 days a week.

Posted by RYoung1485[/QUOTE]

I'm always busy like this, and I love it! In the year before our wedding, we bought a house, Nick changed jobs, I had to go interstate a fair amount for conferences and I was continuing to work on my PhD. In the couple of months before the wedding, we travelled to the US for a couple of weeks and we also bought a new car alongside full time work etc... Being busy is the only thing that ensures I get anything done, though, so for me it works well!

  • I would probably look at cutting back a bit as the wedding gets closer. I can;t speak for all, but for me that 4-6 weeks prior was stressful and I had trouble concentrating on stuff. In the three weeks prior, except when I was at work I really had nothing else on my mind. It was not so much that there was so much to DO, it was that I was about to do this huge thing in life.
