Need a FANTASTIC DRESSMAKER in Cleveland or Youngstown area!!!

Hi All,

I searched the forums and didn't see this question listed for the Cleveland/Youngstown area, but forgive me if a similar question was posted before. My dream wedding dress may exist, since I've seen photos that come close through many a google image search. It must be part of a collection from a previous season, since the dress only seems to be available at those sketchy Chinese "$3000 gowns for $100" websites.

I am searching for a PHENOMENAL dressmaker or seamstress who can recreate my dream wedding dress using images I've accumulated, as well as my detailed description. I lack the skills necessary to sew it myself, but I'm very good at communicating exactly what I'm looking for. My fiance and I currently live in a small town (Hubbard) near Youngstown, Ohio, but the wedding will take place in my hometown of Cleveland, and I could come in to Cleveland as often as needed for fittings, etc.

If you have personally worked with, or know someone who has personally worked with such a professional, please give yourself a Karmic boost and take the time to post a response. I've searched high and low and can't even find a reputable site with authentic reviews (rather than paid ads disguised as reviewed listings) for local dressmakers. The closest I've found is Angie's List, but so few of their listings have actually been reviewed.

p.s. the dress I have in mind is Victorian style with an off-the-shoulder boned corset bodice and full ballroom or princess/a-line skirt.

    Give a call to Denise at Julianne's Bridal Outlet in Olmsted Falls. She did my alterations, but she also makes dresses and has been in the business for over 25 years, IIRC. She does great work and is reasonably priced, too. Definitely worth a consultation, at very least. Another seamstress who did a dress for a friend of mine is Gail Czapor in Parma. I think she's out of Parma Tailoring on Ridge Rd. And, one name I've heard does nice work, but don't have personal experience is Cara Hunsicker in Olmsted Twp. Good luck!

    My friend used Black Rattle Designs for her Titanic Wedding and she was incredible...she got the designs from watching the movie!! I know you are not in Canada, but they have an online made to measure service. Check it out http://www.blackrattle.com.

    Thank you all so much for your comments! I ended up going with the Etsy corsetier I'd worked with before because, although she's in Indiana, I adore her work and she's worked long distance before.

    We only need 1-2 in-person fittings, but I'm now searching for a great local seamstress (Youngstown area, or between Youngstown and Cleveland) to do fittings of the mockups my dressmaker sends, and alterations of the final dress if necessary.

    Once again, any recommendations will be compensated in loads of gratitude and good Karma! Thanks again!!

    Who is the dress maker from Indiana you used? I am in Ohio and looking for a dress maker who is reasonable and GOOD.
