Wedding/Reception Venues

I'm originally from Virginia, but I am currently living in Colorado and trying to plan my wedding over the internet until I get back in town.  I want to have the wedding in October and plan to have about 130 guests.  I was thinking of having the wedding at a winery, but they are so expensive!  Can anyone recommend a reasonable site to get married and have the reception?  Maybe near Fredericksburg??  I am willing to travel!

Sorry girl, I only know of sites in the Hampton Roads area.  :\
Have you thought about doing it at the winery anyways and instead of doing a complete dinner just do wine and tapas?  I bet that would be more economical and you would still be getting some good food and great wine. :)

Not sure how far you're willing to travel, but I've heard Valhalla Vineyards in Roanoke (about 3 1/2 hrs SW of Fredericksburg) is a beautiful place to have a wedding. They didn't have any pricing on their site, but here it is:http://www.valhallawines.com/weddings_receptions.html

Horton Vineyards is maybe 30-40 minutes West of Fredericksburg.  You could check them out at hortonwine.com.  I've never been, but I really love their wine!

You could look into Gari Melchers Home and Studio- he was an artist. It's in Fredericksburg and has some beautiful gardens.

Hey there! My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Gauntlet Golf Club in Fredericksburg last weekend. You can have ceremonies there, too, and they have 2 different spaces on the golf course that are pretty enough for a ceremony since the grounds are really well kept. We had about 120 people and our reception went off without a problem. They were great to work with. I really recommend them. They also have in-house catering and the food was really good, too. Good luck to you! :)

I am getting married at West Manor in Lynchburg which is a few hours south of Fredricksburg.  The place is gorgeous and they help with you a lot of the planning.  (I live 4 hours away from Lynchburg).  I also think their pricing is less in October then in the summer.  I am having my ceremony and reception there.  The ceremony will be outdoors with the reception in their ballroom.  I can't wait!  Good luck!
