Exit Advice

We were planning on using sparklers for our exit, but our sparklers are having trouble catching fire. :( What other options did you use or are you going to use for your exits?

Thanks ahead of time!!!

I've been looking at that biodegradable confetti since our place has strict rules on this.  I love when people do lavendar seeds though.  I've never been to a wedding where the sparkler exit went smoothly.

Okay you both have me worried now because we are planning a sparkler exit. Uh oh. *Note to self, test sparklers tonight.*

I love sparkler exit pictures and we had trouble coming up with something that people don't throw at you... For some reason that idea annoys me to have something all stuck in my hair or on my dress. I don't want people throwing things at me.

Basically, I'm no help. Just rambling because you have me all thrown off second guessing the sparklers that I paid $100 for.

They could ring bells or blow on kazoos.. or do a Soul Train-esque dance tunnel.. I think it depends on your crowd.

i have not actually tested this, but here's what sparklersonline has to say about the lightnight process (so basically if you have long sparklers, don't try to light with a flame, but off a short sparkler instead):

"The 20 and 36 inch sparklers are quite tough to light with a match, lighter or candle flame. They do light instantly with another sparkler. In each box of 20 and 36 inch sparklers (48 sparklers per box), we include an additional six of our 10 inch sparklers with lighting instructions to help. Simply light the 10 inch sparklers (they light instantly with a match, candle flame or lighter) then use the 10 inch sparklers to get some of the longer sparklers lit. The 20 and 36 inch sparklers will light off any lit sparkler, regardless of the size. (Getting the sparklers lit is a great task for the groomsmen. Make sure they know where you have stored the lighter and 10 inch sparklers.)"

Just make sure you have lots of people with lighters stand in various places in the crowd.  At one wedding the darn things wouldn't light and the bride and groom were headed out before we could get the lights down the line of people.  Also they had hay near the entrance and there were several small fires.  Yikes!

The other wedding went better (no fires), but they hadn't asked anyone to run this part of the wedding.  The sparklers were on some table and no one would grab them, plus they hadn't provided lighters, so we were hunting for people who smoked to start the lighting process.

Do a few trial runs, expect for them to take a while to light, and ask bridesmaids to organize it.  Oh, and remember lighters!!

:( I wish we could have these.... I think we are going to have to go with bubbles which suck and dont show up in pics at night.

The shorter sparkler lighters sounds like a great idea though!

They sell propane torches at any big box store or walmart.  We had everyone's sparklers lit in about 30 seconds on a rainy, windy day last month.  Don't depend on lighters, matches or people passing them down.  Have 4 or 5 of the torches and you'll be all set!

So I worked a wedding where they had sparklers. It was cute....at first. Then the smoke started to burn everyones eyes, and there wasn't any breeze to help clear the smoke. I suggest if you do use them be sure to not had out too many. (they had buckets of water to "put them out" yeah it didn't work, I don't know why but it keeps sparkling even under water. just fyi)

Maybe have some guests have glittery ribbons on sticks so the sparkle on them matches the sparkle in the sparklers! make sure they're fireproof!
