Recessional Song

Do you ladies think that Lord Of The Dance is an appropriate recessional song??  We love it and want to incorporate it some how.

As long as your priest is okay with it, I am sure it will be fine. Our priest is really strict, and we couldn't even have the wedding march (here comes the bride) for the processional. I would definitely ok it with him esp before you print the programs you were talking about in your previous post.

LOL... that happens to be our recessional hymn for tomorrow's mass. So yeah, I think it's appropriate if you like it.

Are you having it sung or is it instrumental?

I would like to have it sung.  We have a great guitarist at church that does a wonderful job singing it too.  I think it is a great upbeat song!

Just make sure the priest and/or parish music director oks all the music before you print your programs.  Some parishes are stricter than others about what music you can use.  My parish is very strict and only allows certain musical choices.

I think the church would approve of it but to be sure, ask your music director.

Also, just as a suggestion, Lord of the Dance is the same exact melody as Tis a Gift to Be Simple so if you like the melody, you could also look up that song too and see which lyrics you like better. I think both songs would be appropriate.

Instrumental, I think it would be fine.  I think it might be a bit odd as a wedding recessional sung w/a guitar, but that definitely depends on what the rest of your musical choices are and how it "fits."

Talk to your priest and music director either way to clear it in advance.

We are using "Onward to the Kingdom" which is the tune of Marie's Wedding!   I LOVE the song, and it's played all the time at our church in Chicago (I live in Ohio right now, but am moving back after the wedding).  We are having a fiddler play it.   Our priest was ok with whatever the church we are getting married in allows and as long as it's in a Catholic approved hymnal somewhere.   I talked to the music director of the church we are getting married at today- and he approved all choices on our list! I had more on our list than we will use- just in case.   We are going to meet with him sometime in June- and he was really excited about the musicians he will get to play with!
