Unity Ceremony

What are you doing for your Unity Ceremony?

We are doing the Rose Ceremony

Re: Unity Ceremony

  • We really like the idea of the Sand ceremony , and being outside we figured the candle might blow out... so we went with sand :D ...

we are thinking of getting a 3rd colour of sand to have my son included as he is becoming part of this family as well... 2 more days to decide LOL!
  • we aren't doing one because we feel that our marraige is a sstrong enough symbol of our unity.  The sand idea is nice especially if there are kids included.  Plus, it makes nice art for later:)
  • We're doing a unity candle. It was a nice way to involve the moms.

We are doing the sand ceremony and we have 5 colors.  FI and I are the wedding colors and then we have white, dark brown and natural brown for the three kids.  We will pour half our sand and then they will pour theirs.  We will top it off....encasing the family with our sand....its just lovely in my opinion

Our Pastor said that the sand cermony basically represents the blending of the families, so that would be perfect it you add the 3rd color for your son!

We both have chilldren but I have always loved the Unity Candle. :)

  • We are doing a loving cup ceremony (wine) This will also serve as our vows :)!
  • FI and I are doing the sand ceremony. I really like the visual reminder that we can take home with us and the reading that goes along with it.

  • We aren't doing one.  We did think about doing a wne ceremony where you pour red and white wine into a caraf together, similar to a sand ceremony.

  • Kirean has officially been added to our sand ceremony :D
    Thanks for the advice :D

I wrote this to add him in :

We recognize the significant role that Kieran plays in this marriage celebrated today. At this time I would like to call Kieran to join us with his own unique vessel of sand, representing who he is as part of this family. All three of you are joined together today, not only in marriage, but as a family.

  • We're doing sand. We also have a 3rd color sand, white. We are going to have this already in the bottom of the vase representing that God is the foundation of our marriage. We chose the scripture about building the house aka the family on the sand and the storm came in and blew it down because the foundation was not God, and was not solid for our pastor to read. Fi and I are both happy with our choice!

  • We're doing a tree ceremony. The tree is given soil from each of our parents yards, and then we (as the bride & groom) water it. It will then be planted in our front yard and signify our love and longevity.

  • We're doing a tree ceremony, as well, Tamra!! Our is a sapling that we were given in Chicago from the Field Museum when we went 4 years ago. It has been growing since then, and so I think it will have special meaning. We'll water it as our siblings do a reading.

We were going to do the tree ceremony but the tree I was growing died EEK LOL and we have a serious ant problem, so nothing is growing in our yard...

LOVE the basis behind it though!
