Fort Lauderdale area hotel suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel in the Ft. Lauderdale area? The only requirement is a shuttle service to/from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. We will be traveling the end of August. We have booked our honeymoon through a travel agent...we are going on a carnival cruise and will be departing out of the Port of Miami, but we are flying into Ft. Lauderdale the day before. The agent is kind of leaving the hotel research and everything up to my FI and I. I have started doing some research, but I am unfamiliar with the area and this is our first big trip/cruise. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

    To go from FLL to the Port of Miami, you will use either a cab or a shuttle service (that what most people do). The cab will cost you close to $70!!!!!!! The shuttle will cost you around $15pp and leaves from the airport... So my recommendation to you is to go straight to Miami and get a hotel there. The port is in downtown and that area has lots of things to do, like Bayside MarketPlace (http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/) and Mary Brickell Village (http://www.marybrickellvillage.com/) to eat and play at walking distance or a easy metromover (free monorail) ride to most hotels. My favorite hotel in Downtown Miami is the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell Downtown (http:www.hamptoninnmiamibrickell.com/). It is located a block from Mary Brickell Village and the metromovers and a short $10 cab ride to Port of Miami. They also have free breakfast and are #1 in Miami on TripAdvisor.
