AFRAID!!!!

I have no idea why but I'm actually nervous about starting the dress shopping. I have a bunch of the big stuff done already (place, caterer, photographer, videographer, week of coordinator) but I can't bring myself to do the dress shopping. How will I know it's the perfect dress!!! What if i can't find one!!! What if I find 100 I like!!!! Anyone feel the same?

    Don't be afraid! I have similar feelings to you... What if I don't like any of them or what if I like them all?! You've got a little time yet, so don't stress yourself out! I'd suggest just go and try on some dresses. Don't pressure yourself to find "the one" yet. Just kind of get an idea of the things you like and don't like. Make it fun, bring your favorite people to go shopping with and maybe make a day of it - go to lunch after or something. Just don't feel like you have to buy one yet. Hope that helps a bit. I'm going in a couple weeks and while I hope to find one I like, I'm open to trying a few different stores before I commit. :)

    Thanks for the advice!! I am going in June for the first time. Good thing is that I'm going on the East Coast and I live in California so I can't buy anything that day :)

    Ditto emmyroo. I will be going dress shopping for the first time at the end of the month and I am super excited but also nervous! I'm afraid I won't find anything I like... or that I will try on a dress way out of my budget ("just for kicks") and fall hopelessly in love with it. 

    On a different note - kay, I am a San Diego bride too! When and where is your wedding?

    Ahh yes. Especially as a "plus sized" bride, I'm anxious about looking for dresses that will make me look flippin fantastic. I'm going with my mom and grandma for the first time in August, so I'm hoping to lose a few more lbs before then!

    I'm not excited about the dress thing either.  My mom keeps asking when we're going.  I'm plus sized and have been working hard to drop some pounds before the wedding.  I'm worried if I try and find something too early that I'll (hopefully, sorta) need major alterations.  I'm also scared to find out there's nothing I like or only something ridiculously expensive. *sigh*

    I don't know yet - eek! Hehe. We want to have our ceremony at Sunset Cliffs and the City of San Diego doesn't allow reservations more than 12 months out... so I won't know until we book on the first Monday in July. I'll send you a PM about drinks! :) Where are you planning to go dress shopping?

    No reason to be afraid.  I was super excited at first because it made me feel like I was actually getting married.  I had the problem at first that every dress looked good on but none of them where "the one" and I knew it.  I just found my dress last week and I spent a total of 2 months and went to 7 different dress stores and had 2 dresses from a designer actually shipped in to try on.  Glad I had those shipped in because one of those is my official dress.  I promise you will find something you love.  Don't settle there is the perfect dress out there.  I tried on so many and at the end was becoming unsure until the last day when I put it on.

    Still working on that. The first time I go in June I'm going on the East Coast because that's where my mom and sister live. I"m going to wait to go out here until late summer/early fall :)
