Live band/ipod

So we are planning on having a live band which is my fiance's uncle's band but we were thinking of doing some songs on an ipod to both be able to have some songs played we don't want to ask him to play and also to give him a little break to enjoy the wedding with his family (his wife is a bm and his daughter is the fg). Has anyone else done this successfully?

    We are planning on doing the same thing - the band we have is playing standards and older music, so when they are on break and also during dinner, we are having iPod be the DJ! This way, we can have some of our favorite current songs and also sort of "cool wave" instrumental music during dinner as well as an amazing band playing Frank Sinatra and all that classic stuff. I've never been to a wedding with a live band before (!) so I don't know if it'll work, but I don't see how it couldn't :)
