Honeymoon Cruise

My FI and I are looking at gonig on a cruise for our honeymoon in August 2013. But we are unsure of what cruise line to go with and where exactly to go. He doesn't want to go to Mexico in any way. So if any one has any suggestions please let me know. We have a bit of time to think about it but we still want to get ideas

Re: Honeymoon Cruise

  • Bermuda is also popular in the summer months.  Check out cruisecritic.com and read reviews of the major lines to find one that suits your personality/budget, which can then help you narrow down locations.
  • I took a cruise on Holland America Line this past February. Most of the people were older so it was quiet at night, very little rowdiness. There were also some families there but not many.

We went to Turks & Caicos, San Juan PR, St. Thomas, & the Holland America island in the Bahamas. It was wonderful!!!
  • Our cruise line of choice is Royal Carribean.

We went to the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten for our HM and loved it.

  • The cruise I went on a few years ago was with Royal Caribbean.  It was a great time, the ship was gorgeous.  I think Norwegian and Holland are more highend as well, whereas Carnival tends to be a younger more party inclined crowd.
  • I have been on Carnival and Princess and am going on Norweigan for my honeymoon. Carnival was a younger crowd than Princess for sure. I prefered the shows on Carnival.
If you are looking at Alaska just be aware that it can be rough the later into the summer you go.
My cruise is a repositioning cruise. We cruise from Vancouver, BC to LA, with stops at Astoria and San Fransisco.
  • I've been to Bermuda in August and it was perfect.  I'd recommend Royal Caribbean.

  • We love Royal Carribean.  We also get the travel insurance which would cover you if your trip had to be postponed due to a hurricane.  August is hurricane season, but that doesn't mean you'll be effected - it's just a maybe.

We are going to the  Carribean in December for our Honeymoon (we wanted to go there during the Seattle grey weather, so we planned our wedding around the honeymoon).  Alaska will likely be our next cruise, but I am looking forward to a tropical honeymoon.
  • I like Royal Caribbean or Princess.  Carnival just screams kids to me.

  • For your honeymoon, I'd recommend Celebrity, they're a big step above Carnival and Royal Carribean.

As much as I enjoyed cruising with Carnival and Royal Caribbean, in the past, if I was going for my honeymoon, I'd avoid those cruiselines as they are very similar and have a ton of kids, loud activities, etc.. Celebrity will greet you with a glass of champagne as you board the ship, and everything on from there is much "classier". HTH!

You know, I've never checked out Celebrity.  I've always pictured them as having a predominately older clientele with everyone in bed by 8pm.  I will check out their itineraries for when we plan our next vacation.
