Golden Gate Bridge Construction

I'm seriously stressing out about that construction they are doing on the Golden Gate Bridge entryway on the San Francisco side.  There is horrible traffic, and I'm starting to fear my guests won't be able to get from the ceremony in San Francisco to the reception in Sausalito in a decent amount of time.  I'm hoping things will improve by May, but the project won't be done until 2014.  For those of you thinking about that, I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you were thinking about travelling over the bridge.

It's on a Sunday.  Normally, it would only take 25-30 minutes to drive from the ceremony to Sausalito, but this week when I drove that distance, it took well over an hour.  I ended up having to take a long shortcut along the coast to get to the bridge, but I don't think any of my out-of-town guests would be able to figure out the way.  The reception site will just delay the start date, but that means more $$$$... arg...

I'm giving guests 40 minutes for a 25-30 minute drive, but there will be an hour reception before the dinner so they could arrive a little late.  I could start the reception later, but if traffic isn't bad, nothing would be set up, unfortunately.  I think I'll wait to see how the traffic ends up closer to the date to decide.

You may also want to try driving it on a Sunday at the same time of day that your guests will be doing it.  My parents live right around there and I know the traffic can vary wildly depending on the time of day and day of the week.  Good luck!
