Re: Beauty Chat with Heather Hall and Crest Giveaway!

  • Hi all! I'm Heather. Looking forward to chatting with you!
  • Hi Heather, I am not a big fan of tanning so I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to get that beautiful bronzed glow for my wedding day. Do you have any favorite self tanners? Thanks!
  • Hi Heather -

I'm planning on starting my photos at 4PM for a 6:30 ceremony (reception ending at 11PM). Do you recommend that brides have their makeup refreshed during the day of the wedding, and if so, how often?
  • Hello!

I have always been a fan of Jergens Natural Glow, but I feel you have to be very consistent to get any results. My personal favorite self-tanner is Estee Lauder's Bronze Godess Golden Perfection Tinted Self-Tan. I use it after using L'Occitane's Almond Body Oil. It gives my legs a nice, sleek glow : )

Other recommendations include Colorscience Skin Bronzing Primer SPF 20 because it doesn't streak and looks natural or St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse (it has aloe vera so it moisturizes your skin too).

Congrats to you on your wedding!
  • Hello Heather!

This is actually a question more for my fiance! He gets the occasional pimple here and there, which isn't a big deal except he picks at them like crazy! I figured the best way to avoid any wedding day marks on his face would be to get him to have some kind of skin care routine to avoid pimples altogether! Any suggestions on face wash that works well on men? Thanks!

  • Hi Heather,

Any hints at how to even out skin tone? I only tan to get rid of my reddish/transparent uneven-looking skin. I've stopped tanning (the risks!) and would like to figure out how to get my color pretty even/radiant looking.

Any help would be appreciated :-)

  • Hi Heather!

I have color treated hair that I've also been growing out for the wedding.  It seems a bit dry to me lately and was wondering your best tips on a leave-in treatment for shiny hair and how far in advance of the wedding I should do it. Thanks in advance!
  • Hi Charibe11e, yes of couse. Have a day-of bag prepped with hairspray, mascara, lipstick, bobbipins, oil blotters, fashion tape, etc. so that way you have everything you need! You should touch up before and after photos, and before the reception. But, don't worry too much about it. Enjoy your day!

  • Hey there, my wedding is in a few weeks. I am blonde and very pale and I don't want to look super-madeup on my wedding day. I would do a french manicure for my nails but have been told my coloring is too light for this. My dress is not white, it is more champagne/pink, I am wondering if you have any suggestions for nail color, and perhaps lip color?
  • Togetherperfect, Dermalogica has a well-recommened skincare line for men as does Clinique (even though it may sound girly, you can pick it up at Sephora). The most important thing is that he uses a cleanser! Washing away dirt and oil is key. Cetaphil has a great line of cleansers and washes that would help too!
  • I'm afraid my spray tan will bleed on my dress.  Any thoughts about how to look bronzed?
  • Hi Lindsay! I listed a few of my favorite bronzers above, but there are plenty of makeup products that you can get too to give your face a pretty glow.

Use a makeup primer to even out your skin tone. I like Smashbox. They have multiple primer options. A primer will provide a canvas for your makeup and help it last longer!

Then check out Physicians Formula for a powder bronzer. Apply along your cheekbones and at your temples, also down your neck and across your chest.

  • Hi Heather,

Do you have any tips for picking out the perfect shade of lipstick fo the big day? I am overwhelmed at all the options and I usually am a gloss girl, but from so many blogs it would appear that lipstick is the way to go because it lasts longer and can stand out more in photos!
  • Hey Julzy, I am huge Phyto fan. Try their Phytomist Instant Hydrating Conditioner - Color Treated Hair (you can get that at Sephora!). Also use a shine spray. I LOVE Biosilk finish Shine On and Organix rejuvinating cherry blossom ginseng shine finish spray. Both are awesome!
  • How do you deal with a blemish on your wedding day??
  • Hello! When I stress my face breaks out and I am one of those lucky people who stress out over the smallest things so I know a week before the wedding my skin is not going to cooperate with me. Any suggestions for how to prevent breakouts or how to get rid of them quick if those lovely bumps do show up? Thanks! Alyssa
  • sbabula, you definitely want to stick with blush and champagne tones. I bet your gown is gorgeous! Use a soft pink color on your nails. Essie's Adora Ball and Ballet Slippers are very pretty blended together. As for lipstick, I highly recommend Bite Beauty. They are super moisturizing and have rich color, but don't look too dark. Happy wedding day!
  • kristenkelly, don't wait to the last minute to get a spray tan. Be sure to do test runs prior to your wedding day. If you are already experiencing bleeding on your clothes now, don't chance it with your gown. Experiment with self tanners to see if they can give you a desired effect.

Self tanners can off too, so apply early so that it has time to dry.
  • I have been shaving my legs for quite sometime now. But now I have these ingrown hairs on my legs. They are annoying and ugly in my oppinion. What can I use to fix that?
  • cboni1231, go to a local makeup counter and play with different shades of lipstick. A lipstick will last longer than a gloss. If you're not comfortable in lipstick, nothing wrong with that. You can't go wrong with a natural-looking pink shade though. I personally like darker colors, but it depends on your skintone.
  • I have curly, frizzy hair with oily roots. What hair products would you recommend that are sulfate & silicone free? Thanks!
