Places to take pics near Garrison, NY

If you got married at the Garrison or Highlands CC, where did you take most of your photos? We're thinking about booking Highlands because the ballroom is gorgeous but they do not have extensive gardens or areas for photos besides on the golf course. I know Bear Mountain is nearby but I was kinda hoping for a place with more gardens and flowers. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I'm glad you asked this question! I'm getting married at the Highlands CC 6-3-11 and have been wondering the same thing.

Erica- I just found this place http://www.boscobel.org/gardens.html
It looks like they have gardens and it's not too far from Highlands CC. They do have weddings there so I'm just wondering if they would allow photos during the day if there's a wedding going on later. Let me know if you find something else. Thanks! : )

Hi Girls! I'm getting married there in September. And although they don't have many areas for pictures. I haven't thought of any other place to take pics. Boscobel is very close but you need a permit and theres a cost associated with taking pics there. Depending on the time you want to take them it can be more or less $300.

That's not so bad, I think getting the permit and paying that fee would definitely be worth it. I think I might even try to have my ceremony there and then the reception at Highlands CC. Are you girls staying at the Garrison Inn after your weddings or somewhere else? I was thinking about renting all four rooms that night for my bridesmaids and their dates and my FI and I. This way the guys could golf before the wedding and we could use the spa. : )

I would think that there would be places somewhere on the grounds witha  beautiful backdrop. I'm not sure about flowers, but the Boscobel sounds like it could be good!

for something a bit different than the golf course greens - you could see if your photographer would be willing to detour with you guys to the village of Cold Spring. There is the beautiful river in the background. A park near down town, the gazebo. And if you wanted more urban type shots - you have main street and or the train station that you could use.

It's relatively close up route 9 or 9D. So... just a thought.

    GL! HTH!
