Engagement photos - timing

When did you have your engagement photos done? Our wedding is Oct 20th... is mid-late August too late?

Well I guess it depends what you want to use them for. We got ours done a month after getting engaged. A lot of people use them for STDs and also to try out their wedding day photographer (also, a lot of times if you book them for your wedding you might get a free or reduced e-shoot).

If you just want some nice professional pics of the two of you, you can really do it anytime. Or if you wanted to use them for table numbers or something, you could still do that.

I don't think there's any such thing as "too late" (other than after the wedding, of course!). We are getting married in August and waited until March to do our e-photos. It was no big deal. The only thing was that we couldn't use them for our save-the-dates (obviously), so we went with a non-photo design for those. If you wanted to use them for save-the-dates, obviously that ship has sailed, but if you're just looking to get nice professional photos and to get to know your photographer a little better before the wedding day, then go for it.

This. If you want to use your photos for your guest book, like we did, you should do the shoot at least three months in advance. If you don't have any particualr plan for the photos, you can do your shoot whenever.

agree with PP, our wedding is in august and we got ours done in april. using the pics for the guest book.
