New here!!

Hello everyone!  I wanted to introduce myself to the RI board.  I'm a fellow Rhode Islander who recently got engaged yesterday.  I'm a longtime knot lurker, and now since I finally got engaged, I created a brand new knottie account and now I get to planning for REAL!!!  Lol!

My fiance and I hoping to have our wedding May/June 2012.  I'm thinking we'll end up having about 125-150 people.  For the venue, right now I'm thinking the Towers or Easton's Beach.  I just don't know when to start booking things!!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Smile

Hi Congrats & welcome to the board!

Right away if you are looking for specific dates for those months. The Towers might be hard to get in touch with but Erin from Easton Beach ( my venue) is really quick to respond. G.L

    congrats and welcome!

in terms of booking things...my fiance and i have been engaged since march 09...the first task we tackled was the reception/ceremony location..next were our biggest vendors...we had everyone booked by end of 2009 and our wedding is may 2011...because our vendors are very sought after and we have a holiday weekend wedding, we didn't waste time, and now we can relax and focus on finer details. (and we're also able to spread out payments out over a longer period of time)

    good luck!

    Welcome and congrats!

I echo what others here have said, the venue is the most important thing to book. It's typically the most expensive, so you need to have it for budgeting purposes, and it will help determine a lot of other things, such as if you need a separate caterer, separate reception site, place to stay, etc.

Then for us, we began researching everything right away from a cost perspective, because we really had no clue what vendors cost.  And then I went with what was most important to me, dress / photog were big for me, and where I would likely spend a lof, so I got them out of the way quickly.  Good luck!
