Hotel Rec's for Maui, Hawaii

I just booked our flights for Maui today! (9/27/10 thru 10/2/10) Does anyone have any suggestions on which resorts to take a look at? There are so many and they all look awesome so I dont even know where to start to narrow them down. TIA!

Re: Hotel Rec's for Maui, Hawaii

  • Have you checked out the Revealed guide?

Personally, I prefer Wailea's resorts to Ka'anapali's. The latter are just packed with kids. Wailea is a bit more upscale.

Having said that, I prefer staying in quieter areas (like Kahana or Kapalua) than I do in tourist central!
  • We are staying in Kapalua- I think it's called Kapalua Villas or something. It's  a condo, which will help us save money on food costs. The reviews were good.
  • Thanks. I'll check those out.
Stephie- We really like the Ritz, were there very many kids there?? We're not really kids people. We like quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

No, not many kids at all.  Kapalua is very secluded and quiet and the Ritz has its own beach that it doesn't share with any other hotel.  We thought it was perfect for a honeymoon.  I have pics in my bio.

The Kannapali "resort strip" (Hyatt, Westin, Sheraton) is very popular but it had way too many kids and familes for my taste, at least for a HM.  The Wailea area was the one area we didn't visit.
  • if you have the money, the Four Seasons Wailea is heaven on earth. i wish we could afford to go there for our honeymoon, but we can't, so i'm talking it up as much as i can so i can live vicariously through other knotties!
