Ok.. maybe I'm bragging just a little :) (PIP)

Some Background: My mom is making my dress: She was the owner of a couture wedding gown company for about 10 years, as well as made the TuTus for the ABT's 1990's seasons of The Nutcracker.  -- I'm keeping a blog (I'll release it after the wedding)-- But saturday was the 1st day that the concept of the dress started to be actualized: And I'm SO excited!!!
It won't be nearly this baggy-- It's literally being held together by pins.. BUT!  You can get the idea :)

My favorite part (this detail) is the overlay fabric: She's hand-making it by sewing organza into this pattern...



We're going to add a sash-- We were thinking green, but I'm not liking it so much.  Though that's a LAST minute decision, so I've got time to think :)  (that's the petticoat, not the skirt Smile)



Lastly--This is my favorite favorite favorite part-- We're adding a chiffon braid to the top of the bodice.  This was something I pushed for, and we nixed it, then added it, then nixed it, and added it again-- I'm in LOVE! (pardon the bra)


Anyhoo-- Just wanted to show off.  lol :)

    That's terrific. You lucky dog--couture dress mom!

    Geez, I so wish I had paid more attention to my mom, who was a terrific seamstress, when she was trying to teach me....

    What an amazing experience for you both! It must be so special for you two to work on the project together and to be able to feel your mom's love in the dress as she makes it.

    Thanks, y'all!  :)  I'm super excited-- we're adding more details tomorrow... And maybe starting work on the skirt soon....  We'll see :)  We're shopping for more tulle tomorrow, at least :)

    Your dress looks wonderful and I  L_O_V_E the braid.  Uh huh!  Give your mom a big "You go, girl!" from me.  ;)

    The overlay fabric is just beautiful.  Is there going to be a sort of crumb catcher behind the braid, or no crumb catcher at all?  It's just lovely either way. :D

    Thanks, Lisa50!  We're so happy with how it's coming along...

    Nukke-- no crumb catcher :)  Cool idea, though!  It's a very high neckline (for strapless) and I'm going to do a bolero/shrug to cover up even more.  --Adding a crumb catcher might be too much on this dress-- but maybe for my maids! ... Hmm...
