Bmore!

I saw your post about your officiant. What's happened with that? Is it all working out?

Yes, I think it's all working out! But it's definitely been a stressful road.

I think I already told you a few months back about the struggles we had finding a church due to us being considered a "destination wedding" (though seriously, who has a destination wedding in Baltimore? no offense to Baltimore, which I love, but I just don't think of my wedding as a DW... Baltimore was my home for several years, I just don't live there now).

Well then we found a church that was cool with our situation and we scheduled a time to meet their new Reverend over my April trip to the U.S. Well guess what - he calls me an hour before our scheduled meeting to say someone in the parish just died and he has to go tend to things and can't meet us. And this was the last day we were in U.S.

Soooooo basically this Reverend is marrying us that we've never met. And he has been super ridiculously hard to get a hold of on the phone or email. We finally just spoke to him for the first time (not counting when I called to cancel) this past Sunday. The good news is that he's laid back about stuff and he even gave us a $1000 reduction in our church fees that we totally weren't expecting, but it's still just been such a stressful ride.

At this point, I just can't wait to be married. I've been engaged for way too long. This wedding just needs to arrive already. I have a feeling you know what I'm talking about!!

$1000 reduction!! Whaaat? Sorry that number just jumped out at me. Do you mean you were expecting a reduction, or you weren't expecting an extra thousand in your church fees?? That's pretty funny about the Baltimore DW haha. I also get annoyed when people refer to a wedding as "destination" when it really isn't. I'm really glad it's all working out though. Seriously, there's nothing like stressing out about the most important part of the wedding missing.

And yes, I know exactly what you're talking about!! I think everyone has an ongoing joke about our engagement being so long. Especially when most get married in 6 months max around here lol. Last Friday when I picked up those stupid mini envelopes FI demanded we include in our invites, it was all wrong. The font didn't match the invites, the colors were a strange orange instead of red, the inside card font didn't match the outside and the sizing was all off. It was a wreck really. But I didn't even care. I've let go lots of little details and things we had originally planned for just cuz I don't give a crap anymore. I just want to get married and have the big importatnt things run smoothly!! lol
  • Yeah, this church was charging us $2500, but when this new Reverend joined, he lowered the fees to $1500 and he is charging us the new rate, even though we had already agreed to the old rate. We were totally surprised about it - definitely didn't have that experience with any other vendors!

I'm definitely at the point of letting little things go, too. In the end, most ppl are not going to notice if your fonts or colors are exactly the same. I'm pretty sure if we have good music and some booze, our guests will be more than happy lol.

Exactly!! I'm right there with you! And I'm totally relieved about that church fee.. I got scared there was an extra $1,000 you didn't know about. Whew!!! haha
