Good morning my dears,
Sorry I was MIA for a couple days. I was in Missouri for an interview, and while I was BFs house burned down. We split our time between the two houses because DC housing is just too ridiculous while he’s still in school. Since his house is considerably bigger than mine, we kept all of our things there, even all the stuff from my childhood that we want to keep in storage. His grandmother was living with them and made it out, which is a miracle, but had a small heart attack as a result. We also lost all three cats. We spent our Valentine’s Day sorting through things with ServePro trying to figure out what was salvageable. We have the important things, all people are safe, and we are fully aware that’s what matters, but if you could spare some thoughts/prayers for him and the family, I would greatly appreciate it.
And don’t forget to count your blessings
Re: Prayers/vibes requested... Help us count our blessings?

Hang in there, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help!!!
I'm proud of you for looking at the positives, that has to be so hard right now.
Is G-ma doing OK now?
We have a decent servepro here, and they can do wonders with getting the smoke smell off of some things. I hope they are able to save some important things.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I wish you guys the best of luck and a very smooth recovery process.
[QUOTE]Oh no! I'm so sorry that you lost everything! I'm sorta in the DC area, let me know if you need a homecooked meal or a washer and dryer. Anything to help.

That's sweet. :-)
Have you seen the Loads of Hope Tide commercials? That's a good idea. I never thought of that.
Thank you so much loves. It means so much. I read him all the responses you sweet ladies have left already and it cheered up his day considerably. He wanted me to leave a special thank you from him.
His grandma is finally back from the hospital (yay!) but she just finished chemo and her scan was put off because of this so she’s upset and we’re a bit worried about what this change to her routine and living out of a hotel is going to do to her fight.
Hetshup – Thanks so much for your offer, I’ll keep you in mind (although I have to say, I didn’t trust you one lick until Jeana validated your sanity).
Cate and Jeana – Prayers sent via FedEx Overnight would be wonderful, thank you so much for your sweet offers.

This made me smile. I just pictured my Gma saying that. Where are you originally from?
Still here and still fabulous!
I know online I'm pretty dry and sarcastic. I am in real life too! But seriously, let me know if you need anything, that's what communities are for.
Hetshup,
You are a woman after my own heart. Going too far is always appreciated.
Wrkn,
I am the very rare born-and-bred-in-the-D.C.-metropolitan-area breed, but my boyfriend swears I have some latent country buried deep in my bones. I’ve also lived in Ireland, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua if that helps.
Tiger,
Every new post makes me smile. I’m shallow like that.
I haven’t been able to focus on work today, I really just don’t want to do anything but race back home and help out. This board has been a blessing.
You do still have your memories of your childhood, isn't that more important than the actual stuff? Maybe while you are going through all of it, write down each piece and what it means to you? So you can still reflect back on the memories from it?
I will be praying for his grandma to adjust well. I know a change in the routine is tough for older people and going through chemo must make it harder.

But you still have your BF, and you both still have his grandmother, and that's wonderful news. I am sending you the biggest hugs, positive thoughts, and good vibes. Everything will be okay, I promise. I'm far from DC and don't know anyone who lives near, but if there is anything I can do from a distance, you know where to find me!
XOXO.

Sending good thoughts your way.
I am so very sorry about your cats, that just breaks my heart but it's great that you are keeping such a postive outlook! Keep your head high, you're absolutely amazing!

You guys are amazing. Thank you SO MUCH for all the knottie
. It means a lot.
Some random good news, the wedding dress I have survived the fire (I’m not completely BSC it was handed down to me as a gift). Although it has to be taken to the cleaning specialists like all the rest of our clothes, it actually needed to be fully dry cleaned anyway so we’re getting a nice shiny wedding dress out of this whole mess.
Niknik,
that’s a good idea, maybe I’ll suggest that to everyone else too.
Kathleen,
That is a very good point, I always hated making the bed.
Angie,
thanks and FYI, I totally just thought you had DIYed some sweet basket.
Marley,
Thanks so much dear. The distance might actually be shrinking soon. We’re hoping to visit BFs brother (he’s understandably anxious to see family) this summer before we start work/med school. He’s finishing up a PhD in Minneapolis, so your post made me think… dorky double date if you’re not too busy?
Hazel,
I haven’t had a chance (or was maybe just to intimidated) to jump on your *massive* congrats board, but I am so happy for you and your guy as you finally begin your lives together (cause clearly you just weren’t living pre-rock).
LuvDncn,
(Despite the fact that I’ve been a dancer my entire life, whenever I see your name I read Love-In-DC)– I’m sorry to hear about your grandpa and his wife, was there anything they needed, or things you were able to do that made things any easier for them?
Skyler, Wilber, Elle, Bourge, Amsy, and Deburnin, thank you so much for the hugs and vibes.

Absolutely! Just let me know when. If BF is in the middle of a huge building project (he builds cabins in the summers), we may have to change it from double date to girls-meet-up-in-the afternoon-and-hit-the-MOA or something, but we'll see. I can usually convince him to go places with me if I let him think it's his idea. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /> We're about 2 1/4 hours north-ish of Minneapolis, but TK doesn't have a selection for that.
