Glen Foerd Mansion?

My FI and I are getting married in November 2013 & are looking at the Glen Foerd and Knowlton Mansion. We haven't heard anything back from them yet and I was wondering if anyone knows an idea of their pricing or know if they are on the more expensive side? Has anyone else booked there that could offer me some info? I would really appreciate any help!

  • I do not..but I have the same problem. I contacted them a while ago and still have not heard a peep.  I'm curious as well!
  • They are expensive. They have minimums you have to meet (pricing) for fri/sat/sun during peak months.

My brother and his wife got married there last year at the end of the summer. The food was excellent and the venue setting is really nice. However, they had major problems with getting responses from the wedding coordinator. Their wedding was reassigned to different coordinators several times over the course of the year after booking the venue and making the deposit. There was also chaos on the day of the wedding with the seating arrangements and myself and several of the other bridesmaids were furiously trying to rearrange the place settings right before we were getting dressed for the ceremony. The details seemed to fall through the cracks. If you are lucky enough to have one coordinator assigned to your wedding then, I think this can be avoided. The original coordinator left shortly after they booked so that probably had something to do with all the problems they had. This is not something the guests would notice but the aggravation to a bride is a lot to take. As far as cost, in terms of what a Philadelphia wedding costs, it is pretty reasonable and again the food was amazingly good. They had 120 guests and the service was so smooth. They also had an open bar which was excellent.

It is beautiful there, but is expensive. I only heard this from other people though, I didn't contact them because max capacity for Glen Foerd is 155 guests and I knew I would have well over that. I think the max is 225 for Knowlton, and even then I may have been cutting it close and didn't want to chance it (We are inviting around 270 guests). I didn't want to go look and fall in love with it if it wasn't a possibility.

  • I got married there last June and it was amazing.  I only like to communicate by email and found that they normally responded within a day or two and if you had any issue if you called they were immediately receptive.  It is sometimes awkward to work with more than one planner during the process.  I booked with one person who helped me up till my details meeting, received a new planner at my details meeting (who I didn't particularly like) so I requested a new planner which they immediately provided for me.  I think met with my actual wedding coordinator the day before my wedding at the rehearsal.  While that might not be ideal, my wedding was perfect in every way and my guests still rave about the food.  I know they have increased their prices since I booked there I really felt like we got a lot for the money.  I highly recommend Glen Foerd.
  • I am getting married there in 3 months. They had quite a few value dates to pick from and we chose from those. It was still approx. $100 per person with a minimum of 100 people on a Sat and I believe 75 on a Friday or Sunday. Eventhough it is alot of money it is way cheaper than several other locations that I inquried information at (Holly Hedge, Talamore Country Club and the Lake House Inn) The price includes 5 hours of the facility, 6 appetizers, dinner, open bar, table linens and our cake. Overall there is alot included in the price. I quickly realized that weddings are expensive but I still try to find the best bang for my buck. I hope everything flows smoothly the day of. And as for my coordinator, I'm not crazy about her but I email her with any questions or concerns and she does respond in a timely manner.
